Title: California EV spoke wheel recall flange
Post by: sdcr on September 21, 2021, 02:47:22 PM
For those that know, is this the flange that would be installed on the tubeless spoke wheels?

Yes, that sheet metal ring.  Three screws.  Doesn't prevent spoke breakage.  Just prevents the broken tip from falling between  the rotating wheel and the stationary drive box.  Bad juju.  For the '98EV, in the U.S. Guzzi was required to replace the entire wheel and include the ring.  In the UK, Guzzi was only required to add the ring to the existing wheel.

Thanks Pete. Well, I’m glad the previous owner had the recall done.

Splines were quite dry when I pulled the wheel. Going to use some of the same stuff that I use on my BMW.

So John, I should see them at the handlebar.

Already answered. Mine had that plate from the factory, but it had to be inspected and signed off on.

The only other recall for the '01's that I can think of was to add the second cable to the throttle. If your bike does not have two then it never got done.

It does look like they've been dry for a little while.

Rodekyll,

Yep, :thumb:, two cables coming from the throttle grip.

Really starting to gel with this EV. Tires are about 85% worn, so I’m getting a set of new Shinko 230 series “touring” tire. Never used these before, but I was able to match correct size for front and back, 130/90-17 and 110/90-18. I’m sure it will feel better after these are on.

sdcr -- yes, both throttle cables should be visible coming out of the bottom of the throttle grip.  If not, there should be a round plug next to the only cable where it should be.
