Starting bid with "no reserve" is $500.
Read on and look: then the question is, 'is this worth more than $500'?

I would think that it's $500 worth to a T3 fan with some skills, time, and a shop .... ?

I live where in the town where it is located and could look at it for anyone is really interested...howeve r, I think it is already at maybe more than it is worth just looking at the photos...a lot of labor needed there...  Looks like there is not a square inch that wouldn't have to be touched, cleaned, replaced, taken apart, etc., etc., etc.

I agree, RayB.  The wheels alone could be worth the asking price.  They're late tubeless Lesters.  But it's a huge project, and more than I have time for (alas).

And no matter if they're cheap or expensive.   Koligiski's custom bobber Eldo (or whatever it was) on eBay was panned as crap, not worth $3000, an abomination, no way that's going to sell ... and of course it wouldn't, not here.   To the world, though, it was worth something north of $8000 ....

Maybe we know too much, gotten too smart for ourselves ...

The T-3 I had came with police bars and the big police sidestand.  IMHO why would you buy this when you can get a running '98 EV for 2K.

that titled frame is worth $500.

when I was looking for a 850T I came across a bunch that looked good, but didn't have titles and there wasn't any feelings of shenanigans.  There are just too many pre 1980 motorcycles that people just don't have titles to and are too lazy to track them down. I have personally bought two (more like 10 if you count dirt bikes).

Around here, they are tuff to sell and because of the lack of paper, almost worthless. Take one of those close to running bikes, change frames and ride on.

There are a lot of states that do not issue titles, just registrations for bikes over 10 to 15 yrs old. Some are quite easy to get registered and then you can sell it into another state with the registration and that state will issue a title.  Check out your states laws.

I bought my 1975 Guzzi from New Hampshire even thought I live in Ohio, it had a valid NH registration, but no title. Still took two trips to the DMV with the bike to get them to issue a title and I followed all of their rules and had all their required documents notarized before I came in.

I don't know what I would do with a bike from Ohio without a registration, I cannot get it registered easily in another state. takes time and money. that is why a frame swap would be the easy route here.

So what are the Lester's worth?

Depending on condition, I'd expect to pay $200 for one decent, usable Lester in need of cleanup, bearings and paint.  Good looking Lesters could go for double that.

Well, if you want a T3, buying an EV isn't going to scratch any itches.

I can see some brisk young berkie with not much money but a lot of time and elbow grease buying this and cleaning-up and a-part-at-a-timing his way onto the road.    There's a lot of folks who have $500 and can get another $1500 a little bit at a time who can't get $2000 together in one place ....  :whip2:

great example of my theory why there are guzzi's out there like this...stainless fenders

ive been lured into these murky "rebuild" waters before, and it was all because the silly fenders still looked good. it gives you the impression it'll be a miracle somehow

i mean really, would you take this on if the fenders were rusted to hell, of course not...but the damn fenders just ach for you to walk over and start thinking, "ya, know...it's all there.."

i'm a sucker that way

There was a very nice T3 for sale by "Ambogal" at the VA Rally for $2800.

This one? I'd buy it for $500, maybe $750, part it out and at least double my money. Been there, done that.

I wonder if the chrome on the cylinder sleeves is still good...

Titled frame, matching engine numbers, low mileage speedo (which will reflect on the title being Ohio) - seems like a nice legal deal to me, and if I had more motivation, it would be mine by now (it's been on Craigslist for a little while now).

My plan would be:

Powdercoat the frame and lowers, save them.
Soda blast the engine case, save it.
Get a fresh title with my name on it, frame it

Deal with the rest later. That's my save-it-for-a-rainy day plan.

But that involves work now, and I'm not into that lately

If I were in a restoration kind of mood, I would buy this as a donor bike - wheels, various parts and such, frame if needed to create a titled final product. I'd probably spend the same amount again on a soda blaster and supplies though!

I got that same question several times from folks when I parted out the Convert. I do this to make money, a restoration would cost many times the market value. I don't run this business to lose money.

I know guys who have time that doesn't have to be turned into groceries (the opposite end of that spectrum) who would take this bike to its smallest component parts, clean and fix (if possible) each one, and put it back together, using good used parts to replace the ones that were too far gone to use ... hundreds of hours possibly, but they've got that, and at the end they might have a nice bike to ride ....

I have a convert café with a good title, LM3 wheels, LM3 tank, dual plugged heads, Dyna ignition, rebuilt carbs, lightened flywheel, 2-1-2 raceco headers that runs and rides that I can't get any interest @ $1400 for it. For those of you snapping up Tonti Guzzi's because they have non chrome cylinders and good titles here's your chance.
