Motorcycle forums are like a drug....

I put my Facebook account in a dormant (invisible) status a long time ago. Don't miss it - but I can re-activate it if I want to.

Not sure, but I just requested, and was accepted, to became a member of the MGNOC FB group, one of 3916 members.  This entire FB thing is new to me, I just joined in October.  It's part of my retirement plan to keep in touch with friends I once worked with.

Going cold turkey.

Like smoking, you don't have to go cold turkey if you don't start ..... Always seemed to me to be a place where teenagers take selfies of themselves doing stupid things, to assure that they can't get a responsible job later.

On our long ride last week, it's incredible how many people are disconnected from the real world now.    We watched a family of 6, Dad, Mom, and four kids ages about 8 to 15 walk into a restaurant and sit down.   They walked in the door like a line of ducks, all 6 with a phone in their hands, all 6 heads bent down.   They sat down without talking to each other and only looked up (Dad did) to give the order.

It was quiet, but it was like sitting in the room with a pod from the Borg collective.   Gives me the same attitude toward smart phones as watching drooling needle junkies gives me toward heroin .....

Why do people think that Facebook is in business?   As some sort of personal favor to all the people on it?

Oh yea, Facebook is the DEVIL right, you old geezers! It's all what you make it, you don't have to comment on everything on FB. Or even read it.

And yes, Facebook has a great Guzzi page. Friendly bunch.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/328264358708/ Apparently I'm a "trolling pimp" there (and elsewhere also). <rolleyes>

I initially joined Facebook so that my mom could keep up with what my siblings were doing since the departure of my brother for Oregon. Then I created a business page which brings in customers for me. I joined a few groups - bought parts that I would have never known about since they weren't advertised anywhere else.

So, Facebook can be a tool if used intelligently. None of my Facebook friends is a teenager taking selfies (though there is few middle-aged ones that do). I'm not sure what Facebook has to do with cellphone use - I don't have one.

Oh yea, Facebook is the DEVIL right, you old geezers!

Well, you know, just because you reject some new progressive "thing", like (as an example) allowing perverted dudes in sundresses in to watch your granddaughter pee, that doesn't make you a "geezer".

Maybe it just makes you smart and experienced enough to know when some new "thing" might be trouble, no matter how many people say "I can handle it, don't worry".   Yep, heard that before.

You like it, you go for it.   Me, I'm leaving the Kool-Aid in the little envelope.

Looks like having a Facebook page is worth it to drive customers to your business.  Other than that I wouldn't do it.  No one needs to know what I look like or where I'm going.

I resisted joining until about a couple of years ago.  It' great checking up on the extended family I ordinary wouldn't  communicate with every day or once a month. Grand kids, nieces and nephews grow up so fast it seems.  I belong to several groups for amateur radio, motorcycle, etc.  whatever peaks my interest.  I do, however, limit friend's request to keep it simple.

BTW...How are you doing HD? Things back to normal yet?

We have never been on Facebook, don't know much about it.
My wife recently lost both parents and her "troubled " brother (who lives on FB) has made
disparaging remarks towards her. We get phone calls from family questioning why we
are not responding to his lunatic comments.
Well, Screw THAT rabbit hole!!
