Hit and Run
« on: October 14, 2017, 02:16:06 AM »
Got hit tonight buy a car blowing an intersection. Almost came to a stop before he hit us. Had my 10 year old daughter on the back. Luckily we were ATTAGAT. No injuries except some serious whip lash. Jackass ran off. We will find him....Nissan Sentra older model...maroon color....Good bye to my V9[emoji21]

Awfully glad that the damage - as extensive as it was - was mostly limited to the bike. Could easily have been so much worse!

One thing we all probably agree on is that hit-and-run perpetrators are right there with the lowest of the low. An outright attempt to avoid any semblance of responsibility - fortunately, modern forensics, record keeping and intelligence gathering makes the likelihood of them getting away a lot lower than in the past. Best wishes for a quick and full recovery, and I hope your local police are good at their jobs...

The great thing is both of you are still alive and unmaimed.
Apart from that public flogging should be manditory for douche bags who hit and run.
Post photos of the new bike.

I was going to unleash a torrent of invective and blasphemy but knowing the demographic I'll just say I hope they catch the bastard and nail his balls to a plank.

Running is a ****'s act. Knowing you'd hit a bike with a kid on board means there should be a really special place for youse......

Oh, and unless they were totally off their face they would know. F*** this asshole!

any chance there were traffic cameras? security cameras for business or residential use in the area? a traffic camera before that intersection or in the direction the AH was fleeing towards? good no one was hurt!

Thank you all for your thoughts and support, we know make model and approximate year and color. Happened in front of a bank so we are hoping the cameras there give us something. Very blessed that my daughter and I were just bumped up and bruised.

Hope you catch this person.  This is why we have leaving the scene laws.  Too many people do it.  If enough information is available they may turn themselves in once they sober up and rid their car of all the drug paraphernalia.  You need to get the news involved because the cars should have damage and getting the word out is very important.

Glad you and your daughter are relatively OK.  Bikes can be replaced.

Holy shite! Looking at the damage to the bike you are both lucky you did not have a greater degree on injuries. ATGATT pays off. Really happy to hear you and your daughter are OK.
If that had happened to me with my young child it would be very difficult to not hunt down the hit and run SOB and make sure he ended up next to Jimmy Hoffa.

It happened in El Paso, Texas. Sad thing is earlier that evening I had gone to a wake of a very young man who was killed by a hit and run driver who they still have not caught. Has been a high incident of bike deaths here in the last 6 months. But by the grace of God, go I. Feeling tons of guilt for having daughter on the back.

Glad to hear your daughter and you are ok.  I used to ride my daughter to school on an old Vespa.  Fortunately we were not victims of a hit and run a33hat, but she did burn her ankle on the exhaust one time.  It healed quickly.

Don't blame yourself, you did everything right getting ATTGAT on your girl.  Likely your actions saved both of you.  Could of been hit in a car by a hit and run as well... no guarantees in life but thankfully you are both well.

Been to El Paso several times by bike.  The only city I know of that you have to go through a border check point to leave.

Did you see enough of the plate to know it is a Texas plate?

Now that you say where it happened, I doubt the perpetrator will be found.

I think about how we rode in the late 60's and 70's with very minimal protection protection. T-shirts, Jean jackets, combat boots, gloves if cold. But bikes were slower but handled much worse. Stopping power...joke!

That stinks. Glad you're both ok!

In this day and age, it is much more likely the person will get caught. I'm guessing they know that as well. There may have been alcohol involved and that is why they ran. Like others said, I hope they catch the bastid. Lowest of the low in my book.

Hopefully your insurance is good and you can get shopping!!! (Gotta look for the silver lining).

Glad you are OK. I assume that those hit and run driver's have a multitude of issues for why they ran, one of them being lack of insurance.

In this particular case, does the insurance company regard this as uninsured motorist or does it really matter other than the deductible?

I didn't start on the street until the early 80s, but being in Daytona Beach, FL the usual gear on the 30 mph roads to the beach was flip flops, bathing shorts, and beanie helmet (required back then).  Sure glad I never went down geared up that way.  I bought a plastic full face helmet from Kmart for the wintertime.  Accidently dropped it off a loading dock and it cracked in half at the seam.

I see people today riding in shorts and sandals, but the roads are so much more crowded than they were back then.
