Nice!

Those pics of the V85 are really good!

I'm thinking one of those will end up in the garage when it comes out!

Lots of variations of the V7III...sales must have been good on small blocks.

how can they list the V85 for this seasons showrooms when they can't even show the motor at a trade show as yet?

I am curious about the same thing...

I hope they really not being overly ambitious with the engine so they can chase sale...

either that or they were hiding it...????

Truthfully, I'd be fine with a smaller Stelvio-like bike with the existing V9 engine.  I'd certainly take it for a ride and consider it for purchase.

What I noticed is that the Griso is shown as a 2018 model (USA) - are they just using up some left-over CARC components with a new label, in a market where the old engine still meets the regs? Inquiring minds want to know...

Curious what the color really looks like, and if there's any little mods from existing models other than cometic.

I called my dealer and asked if I can get on a waitlist...  They had someone from sales call me back who claimed that the Piaggio reps told him that it wouldnt be on US showroom floors until 2021... for the 100th anniversary.

I thought that was odd... six variants seems a bit much, and the stone, special, & racer look unchanged from 2017?

If this is true, I might as well look somewhere else if I want to get into enduro touring type... :thewife:

I'm looking at chrome 2013 V7 Racers.  None of the line up has my interest.  Maybe the red Eldo but not at the full bore retail price.

Nothing of interest for me, glad I got a CARC when I did.

V85 looks like they're going after Honda's Africa Twin . . .

OK, I admit that green Roamer is pretty hot, and really digging the overall look with the screen and all.  Time to look at these again...2018 might be bad for my wallet!

No.  It has a new, 5 valve head(ala' Yamaha Genesis)

Is the v85 engine a small block/heron head type?

The smallblock moved from a Heron Head to a Hemi Head for 2017 (V7 and all V9 models from introduction on). And FWIW the smallblocks seemed to make a nice little jump in power at that point.

Pete noted when he first examined one that it looked like they might be setting up for a future dual-plug / 4V head.

So the speculation is the V85 will be just that (4V or possibly 5V head) to maximize what can be done for performance while still making emissions on an air-cooled lump.

I doubt that the 85 has a 5 valve head.

And if that bike won't be out until 2021 (and I doubt that too), I can't see anything in the foreseeable future that would draw me into a showroom.  My interest would more a sport/sport tourer- a new Lemans.

I wonder why they don't have a variation of the Norge 1200 in the form of a naked standard...  Think of it as an updated Breva 1200.  Get a Norge and take off all the excess plastics.  Show me the engine with a small chin spoiler on it (if that!).

I stopped in one of our Michigan dealers and put myself on a waiting list for the V85 (no info at all...sales guy had no idea what I was talking about)....the sales dept had hundreds of bikes in the show room...hundreds of quads and snow machines...I asked about MG and we had to walk out back to a stock building to see the 3 bikes they did have...a Stornello, California 1400 and a V7 Classic.

Anyone know of a dealer that promotes the bikes in the Midwest?

Thanks for the post :)

Yeah, now similar to the V9.  Looks homemade, I prefer the "out of style" side-cover arrangement of the 2017 V7.  A matter of taste, but the side covers put me off buying a V9.

Cool!

Don't the V7 bikes account for at least 50% of Moto Guzzi's sales? (I am not sure if that is by units or by revenue.) If so, they are wise to focus on that line.
