if it has tube-type wheels (which most feel it does) I probably won't even consider one.... The other thing is I feel it would be intelligent to give this new bike a couple years.
Who wants to act intelligently?
The pictures I've seen show the V85TT with the same Alpina tubless spoked wheels as the Griso, Stelvio, and Eldo have...
OK good, thanks rocker!
I may very well be attending a wake at Lake Como in 2021 for the 100 th..
Both fair enough posts by anyone's standards. As for the "imperfections" in Guzzies, I'm a relative newcomer by comparison. Some of the blokes here gave been Guzzisti since Christ died, so I don't presume to preach..But..I only have 2 Guzzies Norge and Mk2, but I look towards them as personalities with the consequent blemishes that a personality brings, good and not so.My Norge is like a good friend who sometimes lets me down slightly but doesn't really mean to, it's just the cloth from which she's been cut , but rarely has she done anything wrong that I did not have some input into. Now whilst the above sounds (and probably is) a bit fanciful, it is certainly the way she makes me feel, (as the great philosopher Michael Jackson once said) and it's how they make us feel that drives the hungry machine.A Guzzi is your chosen friend that works with you.A BMW 1200 RT is something that works FOR you.Does that sound like crap..? (Someone'll answer "YES")
Bikes are just a means to being in the wind for me. I do not get attached to the machine.
Hmmm..That's kinda' strange considering you're a twowheeladdict...!Sort of like an addict that can stop any time he wants to I'm guessing.Never actually met one 'till now..
"Who'll pull the trigger on a V85?"Not me.Bob
A sport touring variant of the V85 would be a great bike for me to have
As an addict I am never satisfied. For me it is about the experiences and not the bikes themselves. Always looking at that next riding experience. I've owned from 250cc 2-stroke to 107 CI V-twin to 1400cc I-4. Dirt, adventure, street, sport, touring, cruiser, naked, fully faired and all between.
I do like the concept.
At this time I don't have enough fact to make a decision. I am disappointed to see it wears what appears to be spoked wheels that require tubes. Don't understand why manufactures do that to bikes that likely never see rugged true off road conditions but are likely to sevrev as a street machine for local riding or occasionally touring. Dunno know it just doesn't make sense to me. My choice would be alloy wheels or tubeless spoked wheels. Paul
Yeah Foss. The accent is on the word "for" not the word "works".I do think that something that's over reliable, can approach a point of over familiarity, and as such there is less light and shade in the relationship. You know the old adage.."Familiarity breeds contempt.."I'll wager that most of the friendships and interactions on this forum are born out of the desire or need to sort out some anomaly. When you finish cleaning your teeth, you never marvel at how much you like your toothbrush..No.Why.?Because it's performance does not vary and there are no pleasant (or unpleasant) experiences to be shared and it does what it's supposed to do and you feel entitled to demand unwavering obedience. It's the glorious uncertainty and constant need to be involved that provides the texture to the Guzzi experience.Maybe...?
