For you Bultaco fans, another classic CL ad
« on: December 20, 2018, 09:30:05 AM »
"... Bultaco Pursang MK9 not a scratch on anything." Oh yeah? Besides the tank, check out the broken head fin:

https://westernmass.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1977-bultaco-pursang-mk9-200/6763885740.html

Still looks like a fun bike. I would love a ratty old Euro MX-er to remind myself what a REAL dirt bike feels like.

WHAT???? EVERYBODY'S a BULTACO fan!!! This is my '76 Sherpa at a AHRMA event a few years back.
Norton scored a "3" for the event- clean ride! Easy to score low when you can't touch the ground <shrug>

I have a '72 Sherpa too  :thumb:

They’re both all there. I just need the time to play with them. The 76 I bought new. 72 is street legal. Nothing like a bul

He sold his shop & property, he has 1 more year there. Don't know what he'll do w/all that stuff then. His shop still has Norton crate cardboard on the floor. I told him don't use them sell them.

I had a Frontera, great bike. I got it street registered too.

I figure Hugh's would buy any Bultaco parts if the former dealer wants to clean out.

OK, but back to the model in the CL ad, all you Bultaco experts: How accurate or complete is it? Looks like a Mikuni carb. Owner doesn't claim it to be original, but what about that pipe? And the 200cc model has GOT to be rare, and probably not that desirable.

He noticeably doesn't even say if it runs. For $500 I'd buy it as an objec't de art.

I take it back: A little research shows it to be fairly accurate by the photos. I like it.

I am also a big Bultaco fan. I had a 370 Pursang back in 1975, when I was 17. My son pointed this one for sale close by, as an "interesting" bike. What do you guys think of these?

I had a Matador back in the day. What a wonderful machine. Couldn't kill it. One time, Iwas blasting around a corner, and there was a 2 foot log across the trail. It was a little greasy, and Ididn't hit it straight enough. The Bull did a twisting 1 and a half as it went into the river.  It was still running as it went under. With help, drug it out, pulled the plug, turned it on it's back like a bicycle, and pumped the water out with the kick starter.Turned it over, put the plug back in, and it started right up. Finished the enduro. Like Isaid, couldn't kill it.. :thumb:

I still have a couple of them. A Matador and a Metralla. Great bikes that are fun to ride. I used to use the Metralla for the Motogiro. It was great on pavement, but the dirt sections with the low clip-ons was pretty tough on the wrists. I bought the Matador with thoughts of using it for the giro. Have not had a chance to go since then.

I'd LOVE to have a Metralla- Beautiful machines. I'd take a Streaker too. Or Mecurio.

I sure wish I'd bought what would have been my 3rd Metralla. It looked like the best of them. But later I bought my LeMans.

I saw the Streaker up close but I don't see the attraction.

Still, something about Bultacos still gets to me. A Metralla would be nice, but I think now I'd like a Matador. I like old style ISDT bikes.

I don't think it's available anymore. It's the "Guzziology" of Metralla stuff. Sure did help with the restoration of mine. Kind of miss that rig, but have to maintain my 3 bike limit.

At a recent, local vintage MC show, I talked to the owner of this lovely, restored, Metralla, and he was asking $10,000 for it!! :thumb:   Beautiful example!!

Sounds like a lot, but I think that's the price of admission if it is indeed proper.

I'm actually thinking if it's something I should do..
