02 cali stone shift linkage ends?

Checking over the bike I found the linkage end at the shiftier loose..  The nut holding the ball on was loose. Well trying to tighten up the nut I found the stud was stripped..  Is there any preferred fix to those shift rod ends? Different setup? hardware store stuff? only genny MG parts??

Nah. Most decent bearing shops will be able to supply 6mm rose joints. I think they're 6mm?

Can't remember for sure, but I think the ones on my Jackal were 7 mm and not available locally.

Thanks all!  Ya they do seem to be 6mm..  lots of standard one around, not much metric, but I have a few more places to call. Before i do a normal replacement I figure I would just dorp in here and ask you all If there is a improved setup.

Strange the stock ones have no boots or anything on them. Should they be greased, or oiled or anything? All the sockets are nice and tight.. bike has less then 10k on it..  but I was surprised they were just in the open.

Hardware for the linkage is 6mm.  Be sure to get some locking nuts (aircraft/nyloc) for that setup and keep some extras on hand in your toolkit.  Heck, use some threadlocker too.  Had a standard nut back off on me in heavy traffic.  It gave me a false neutral just before it let go.  I used a found zip-tie to patch it up and got me back on the road.

Just use a nut, washers and a bolt to attach it to the lever. I have used these to fix up a Loop.

My shift on a 03 ev is a little sloppy, would this be a direct swap onto the original rods

It could be a direct swap. I don't remember for sure but I think the rod has reverse threads on one end so you would need to get one of the bearing joints with the reverse thread too.
Then in addition all you need are the bolts and nylock nuts.

I ended up ordering one of these. Struck out local, and With Christmas coming this week, I wont have time to go semi local till later next week anyways...  So mail order it is!!  I found a ton of them in standard thread.. heck my local hardwere store had them... But no metric at all.. not even in the basic rod end style..  So mail it was!!  Thanks all.

Parts came in yesterday and its back together!!  The new joint is a little bit longer, but there is room on the threded rod..  it looks a bit different, but it has a boot on it, what being out in the weather at the foot lever, its good..   I just have to do the adjustment once I get the bike all back together, and can sit and try it out..  Thanks for the advice all!
