Motorcycle Trip to Italy
« on: December 27, 2018, 09:09:49 PM »
I have been wanting to take a trip to Italy for years. Got my passport two years ago and still have not gone.

Not anymore. Just turned 51, so no more waiting. Just booked trip tonight and paid deposit. See website below:

https://leodescapes.com/ride-mugello-italy-motorcycle-tour.html

Trip is 10 days and 9 nights in mid June. Wife and I are going. Hoping to reserve a Ducati Multistrada 1260. I purchased a 2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone last month. I have really enjoyed the Moto Guzzi- put over 1500 miles on bike in six weeks. I also own a 2014 Ducati Multistrada and a 2017 Supersport S. Trip includes Ducati factory tour and a track day at Mugello MotoGP Circuit. We will have Ducati instructors and get to ride Ducati 959 Panigale bikes.

I have tracked Circuit of The Americas multiple times (live in Austin area). Looking forward to trip.

Wow  -  Rome, Siena, Bologna, Orvieto!
Such great places! No need to make any changes to that schedule! Be sure to get some hours on foot to look around in those towns!
Buon viaggio  -  looking forward to your report + photos!

Sounds great!

I did my own Alps ride (well 2 of us on 2 BMW GS800).
We flew to Munich and rented from BMW near the Olympic Stadium. We made Bolzano our home for a couple days. 10 days total. A real bucket list trip.
Have fun!

15 years ago, I did the "Best of Europe" tour through Edelweiss on a BMW.  It was great!    :thumb:

13 years ago, I did a 4-day tour of the Scottish Highlands on three vintage British bikes...also very memorable! :thumb:

Your Italy tour will be a trip you will remember the rest of your life!  Good for you! :thumb:

I rode in Italy twice this year. Camped both times in Mandello.  SS45 Milan  to Genoa is my be favorite road!!  Don't let the passes through the Alps immtimidate you. I do them on a fully loaded EV1100!!

My girl and I will be in that area at the same time. Doesn't look like we'll cross paths though.
Enjoy.

I'm a fan of Southern Italy. Anywhere below Naples, but especially Sicily.
That said, the food and wine is good everywhere.

Learn some basic Italian.  You'll have fun.  Gas is expensive.  Austria is a blast to ride.  One of the better rides is Zillertaller Hohenstrasse.  The Dolomites are fun too.  You can use the whole road going up/coming down a pass.
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉
