02 cali stone.. 140/80 vs 130/90 tire??
« on: December 30, 2018, 02:42:48 PM »
OK, so ive been doing some searching, and reading, and only seeing little bits and pieces about this...  I have a 02 stone metal.. Im going to need to get a rear tire soon for it.. It has Lazertec on it now, with great tread, but starting to get some sidewall cracking. Searching for ideas, I see a lot of people talking about switching to a 130/90 tire.. Mostly for the  Jackal, but also some stone owners...  Any reason to go with one over the other?? Price seems pretty close on them, so not really a issue there. For now im going to keep the front Lazertec on it...  Its not that old and in good shape. Tossing around trying one of the Shinko tires and see how they are.. The price is right, and if I dont like them, by then the front will be due to be replaced, and Ill do a matched set of something.

A BB Stone is mechanically the same as a Jackal , it will steer a bit quicker with the 130 .

Don't be too sure about that Metzler outlast you...this was the LAST Metzler I bought and will ever buy.

Hi,

I just bought my second set of Shinko's for my 98 EV. First set I purchased was the following:

Shinko 712 Rear Tire 130/90-17 68H
Shinko 230 Front Tour Master Tire 110/90-18 61V

I have just over 6,000 miles on them and ride hard rain or shine. Wear has been even and no unusual handling to this day. The order I just received from Revzilla will be the above except this time I'm trying the 230 on the rear as well to see if I can get a bit more miles out of it. I'm also running the 230's on my 86 IV Lemans and the Raven's on my 1100 Breva. If I get 5,000 miles out of each set I'm happy and changing is not a problem as i have my own changer and balancer. Both tires for the EV were $131 to my door...

Thanks guys!   I have a friend that works for a Suzuki dealer, and ill check with him first on what he can get me and Ill go from there...
So ive read about the speedo error..  is this on all the Cali's of this era??   I tend to be a more sporting rider.. sounds like the 130 will improve handling a little from what ive heard.
