If I was up in that kind of country, crossing mountains and fording rivers, I like that Rokon for the job.   Or, if I have to ride some roads to get there from wherever in Idaho my base camp is, then a 250 trail bike.   I just can't see doing 500 pounds and 60 horsepower to run 30 MPH on forest trails and tracks any more ....

But that's just me.  I'm downsizing everything.

Government spending.. each Christini 2wd cost $10,000

My Trail 90 could go almost as good in those mountains. It has high and low range .
I climbed Spirit Mt where none of the other DS bikes could.

I'm interested in the ADV thing, but something a bit lighter is more my speed. I really like the new Honda CB500X. About 430 lbs fully gassed, around 48-50 rwhp, and a fuel range of over 285 miles. They say it works well off road now that it has more suspension and a 19" front wheel. Some call it the "Half-frica Twin." As long as you don't undertake any big jumps, this bike should be good from singletrack to interstate. It seems to be the heir-apparent to the KLR's spot...
