Slimey Crud Run 5-5-19
« on: May 06, 2019, 05:46:44 AM »
Those of you in the Illinois and Wisconsin area are well aware of the Slimey Crud Run.  The SCCR is just an excuse to ride the great back roads of Wisconsin and gather at a couple of towns to talk bikes.  The crowds were huge this year.  Hundreds maybe thousands of bikes, but I had the only Norge as far as I could tell.

Great day for it, I stayed south of the border and rode along the flooding Kankakee. Good day to be out. Lots of bikes but I was the only Guzzi I saw.

Jim,  yes it was a great day to be out,  that is until we got caught in about 30 miles of hard rain and mini hail on the way home.  The Norge weather protection is very good.  Of course when the rain got heavy I finally got wet.

The Norge engine never fails to impress especially since the addition of a Beetle map!  The power that is still on tap above 80 mph is pretty astounding.

I'd forgotten about it, but was out riding on some nice roads about 10 miles from Leland. There sure were lots of bikes out! Beautiful day, and back home in the garage before the rain!

Not likely because I was just at Leland for a quick look then back up PF by noon. The only GRiSO I saw was red one from a distance. Sadly mine is waiting to come out of storage. Rode a green Kawasaki Versys 650 instead. Sure a nice day and so many motorcycles. I spotted a nice V-11 with a sidecar? Got gas next to a Buell toting a boat battery on his rear rack and jumper cables he "got a new battery but there wasn't time to install it"! Hail Mary

So you're north of Leland ("up PF"), then? I'm in Madison, w/ a black Griso. Hope to see you around.

Now that I think about it, I did encounter a Griso on some curvy road not far from Leland last season, when I was riding my Italjet. Maybe it was you?

Moto,
Back in 2017 I messaged you about a red GRiSO I had an eye on user name was Cold Hands then. Nakoma is home not far from Jason Y. The thread about waterproofing the instruments was great but I opted to not risk diving in such deep water and maybe risk making more problems. Hopefully the very slight fogging won't be too bad.

I can go by Leland maybe five times a year then across Richland County on N or anyplace that looks good.

Tom,  I sure hope the weather is more favorable for WMGR meet and I have the GRiSO on the road soon.

I usually attend this one but skipped it this year. For me to get there by 9 am I have to leave home at 4 am.

There is always a good crop of Guzzis there. Last spring I met a couple from North Dakota who rode their '13 (iirc) Stelvio there.

Ah, yes! I remember. Most dashes seem to do fine, I think.

John Boettcher - Ratguzzi was at Pine Bluff.  His bike always garners much attention.  When I mentioned that fact to him he replied "but it's the kind of attention a 2 headed animal gets at a freak show"

This wild sidecar left me puzzled.  The mannequin with the mask really set it off!
