Not American, but this always amazed me. They made well over 220,000 of them and were copied in many countries. Crazy engineering concept, they were popular in Europe.

Well, the deal is done, and she’s mine. Today I bought a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee tractor.  I’m a happy fellow.
What could possibly go wrong with a nearly 70 year old machine?

Well.  Ok.  I’m handy with tools.  And it is just like a Moto Guzzi, right?

I should also explain a WildGuzzi dynamic.  I always ask the Sultan of Cedar Vale his opinion on my potential mechanical purchases. Dusty often gives me detailed, logical, factual explanations for why I should not buy the item in question.  As he did here.  I then ignore Dusty and buy it anyway.  But I hold Dusty strictly responsible for any issues or disappointments I might have.  Seems fair.

Buy a set of tire chains to pull that girl out of the mud. Fill the rear tires with beet juice, wont freeze, and wont rust out your rims.

What a beautiful old beast  :thumb:

Nice looking full set of gauges, I don't recall my fergie having much besides temp?

That's a fair sized brush hog, looks a lot like my old 6' Waco, I used to break shear pins like butter until I learned to keep the throttle and speed up.

Nothing like a good day of tractoring

Please let us know your impressions after you've put it to the test a few times.

Well done!

I have been muttering for years about getting a tractor and look forward to a tractor in the Moto Grappa someday ...

... tho I am running out of days.

Congrats SmithSwede.

That machine will easily last another 70 years.

Just make sure you don't use any engine oil that is not at least 50 years old in that thing.

I mean the Ford, not the Guzzi.

Those are great little general purpose small tractors.  Get a copy of STEINER tractor parts catalogue or look online.  They have practically everything you would ever need for your Ford.

Does it run on gas, diesel or some other algae/bio fuel, or can you just stick ears of corn into the thresher and have it feed itself as it harvests a field of corn?  Maybe it could be solar powered!

I'm digging the blue color, but there's a lot of rust, definitely need to clean that up and make it more presentable Prescott!

I suspect you'll be going to Tractor meets now!

When you put the Ford V8 in it, make sure you use the old style flathead where the water connectors from the radiator go to the middle of the heads. One in a thousand of those cracked the block but the new style where the connection is at the front of the block had a common problem of cracked blocks in the middle, where the water connection used to be. Two guys helping and by the time they have drank a case a case of beer you’ll be plowing

Gas, through an updraft carburetor, Stromberg if I recall correctly.

I do exactly the same thing, but I have streamlined the process - I skip the asking The Sultan stage.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Ok, but do you still blame him later?

A little thread drift, look at this nice MF on CL near me.
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/grd/d/harris-massey-ferguson-tractor/7390175880.html

A MF 50 like that was my Christmas present in '55.  It still soldiers on, mowing the runway and doing whatever a tractor needs to do. I remember the Jubilee at the county fair a couple of years before, and thinking it was cool.
