Chuck,Can you find a similar regulator at an auto parts store? I’ve seen that done with Loopframes in need.Cam
I used an Echlin from NAPA on my '70 Ambo. Not sure on a G5 and I don't think I'd try it.
A solid state regulator?? I haven't done the homework on what would work.
That's what I use. The adjustable one from MG Cycle in particular:https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_161&products_id=1110The one I linked to above from Autozone is s.s. as well, just non-adjustable. I pulled the known-good solid state regulator off of my V50 III and will be taking it to the rally, along with a diode board, just in case.
Glad to see you are getting it sorted, Austin. All those G5 shifters will fail..even the outrageously priced new ones at harpers. What I did was make a solid stub that closely fit the interior of the old shifter. Tigged that on the shifter assembly, then slid the arm over that with and made a couple of rosette welds to the stub. That will *fix* the infamous G5 shifter issues.
If you want to do a T3 shifter conversion I have parts for you Azach….
Sounds like an adventure.
I've not had the pleasure of working on a t3 yet or really being able to dissect one, what is the difference in shifters?
