Convert Stolen in Tn
« on: July 28, 2020, 07:06:48 PM »

best pic for fb
Hey guys, my dad had his convert and a Ducati 900 ss/sp stolen from his garage in Tennessee. They are both pretty distinctive, especially the convert. Its got red/white sp bodywork and a rifle fairing. Also has monbloc calipers off an r1 on the front. The 900ss is yellow with lots of mods. Ill get some pics. If you guys see a convert for sale with that description please let me know. Both bikes have lots of sentimental value.
Thanks

Steal a Convert? That has to be one for CSI. Has to be a 1st! Wouldn't think a thief would even give one a 2nd look. Hope he finds it!

Location?  It's a long way from Bristol to Memphis and might impact which direction a thief might go.

A buddy with a SPII was riding back from Sturgis with a dood on a harley that went to great lengths to lock the bike up at the hotel. Got up in the morning, Harley Gone-SPII still had the key in the ignition

I’m not far from Tullahoma.

Were the bikes stolen as part of someone stealing all the contents of the garage, or were just the bikes stolen?  Makes a difference on what they might do with them. Meth heads could just chop them up and bring to that recycling center on the way to McMinnville.

They took most of the garage contents. Tools, chainsaws, and the bikes. They left a 4 wheeler and some other assorted items. You are probably right, that’s kinda what I expect. There’s a possibility that they could have been gone for a decent period of time. I’m not sure how long it’s been since he was at the cabin last.

Wow. I live near Tullahoma in Bedford county and have never seen those bikes. Thought I knew everyone in area with a Guzzi. Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

What kind of cans are on the Ducati?

I'll ask at the local Euro shop in Chattanooga if they've seen either bike.

I'm always looking at the Nashville and Huntsville craigslist and I would definitely remember seeing that Ducati or any Moto Guzzi being listed.

Surveillance cameras are the way to go for the future.

pretty amazing , i had my 750 NTX stolen last week, fortunately is was recovered by the police.
you would expect  having a 30 year old moto guzzi is enough reason not to worry about theft.
apparently with newer bikes being better secured ,  thieves must be getting pretty desperate..

They are ... just served on a grand jury, meth heads and oxy freaks are stealing anything, on camera, and either selling it by the weight of the metal or taking it to a pawn shop, getting their fix, and getting arrested right after ....

How did they get in? Side door, window? How was the garage secured?  Just a padlock?  I live in a rural part of Tennessee as well, meth-head burglaries are always a concern.

They cut through a gate and a couple big padlocks. Im sure he will have cameras in the future. There may be a surveillance camera on the Rd that goes up the mountain. I sorta suspect that it was probably a neighbor that stole them. The house is in a pretty remote area and his is one of the few houses up there not occupied year round.

So if we see this bike being ridden had you rather have the  bike a little skinned up and the thief in custody?😂😂😂
Just funning, I sure hope y’all can get the bikes back, it’s a feeling of total violation of ones self when this kind of thing happens to hard working good people. So sorry:(

Things like a SimplySafe or Ring camera security system is inexpensive and so very easy to install. Always add extra sirens as well. The SimplySafe phone app works great too. Every camera and the system can be accessed through your phone wherever you are. That certainly won't stop every thief, but at least they'll be recorded on camera and the sirens 'may' alert others or change the course of events.

These are not easy bikes to fence or to even part out.

Trying to bring a bit of humor to this, I would kind of like to see the first attempts at riding the Convert. Why won't it shift? What is wrong with the clutch. What a weird bike, scratching head.
Best of luck on getting them back.

I'm confused when you say mountain, and Tullahoma together.  Unless you are saying his place is 30 miles east of Tullahoma in the Savage Gulf area.

These won't work without a cell signal will they?
I have a place in TN and I get no cell signal there. Ossaman55: my place is over on the Cumberland Plateau, but I'll keep an I out when I'm down there. Lots of people know I'm into bikes so you never know.

Bike thieves should be hung with a motorcycle chain.  If it was a chainless bike just impale them like Vlad Tepes did.
