Adding power points.
« on: April 15, 2021, 01:04:07 PM »
Hi,

I have a V85. I've never added any electrical accessories before. Is there an adapter available for the two pin power point under the seat that will let me run heated gloves etc ? Any help appreciated

Depends on how much power you want and where.
For a two-pin (SAE) connector, I just hook a fused wire to the battery and run it out the side.  Use a zip tie to fix it to the frame if you want.

If you would rather run 3-5 outlets, then use a fused power distribution box so you don't have to hook up a bunch of connections to the battery.  There are things like the PDM60, that's the one that popped into my mind, but it may be more expensive and complex than you want or need.

The power connector under the seat is for an optional USB point that mounts next to it. It's superseal connector that you can buy from Kojaycat in the UK.
This power takeoff is not suitable for heated clothing. It shares a 7.5a fuse with three other power drains.
Power directly from the battery through a relay and use the switched power side of the connector to the relay. There are plenty of harnesses available with instructions if you can't do it yourself.
If you want an excellent quality two-way ready made sub harness Eastern Beaver do an excellent kit. Two weeks delivery to the UK.
I have no connection with them I do use his harnesses though.
Good luck 👍

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the PDM60 and see how it goes.
