Title: V7 Racer Record Fairing left mirror wanted
Post by: jas67 on July 02, 2021, 06:18:42 AM
I recently sold my V7 Racer with the Record fairing.

Seems that when Luigi packed up my fairing for shipment, it must have been a Friday afternoon, after a little too much wine, because he packed two right mirrors and no left.    At the time I was installing it, it was no big deal to me, as I didn't like the way they looked on the fairing anyway, and went with CRG bar end mirrors.   I actually had forgotten about this until the guy who bought the bike just texted me to inquire about where to get a left mirror.

As this was a very limited production fairing kit, I'm not too optimistic that the mirrors will be easy to get.   I'm hoping that they're actually something that is a stock mirror for another bike or something.     Other than trying the usual sources such as MG Cycle or Harper's, any ideas where to procure one?  Does anyone here have one that they'd like to sell?

Ugly enough that they aren't even shown in stock photos of the fairing:

Do the Italian thing:  replace both mirrors w something else.  At least they'll match.

They're crap mirrors anyway.  The plastic housings wear really bad just from road vibration, to the point that one of mine fell off at about 400 miles while going down the interstate.  Replaced them both with something else.  As to which one, I don't recall but will check whether I still have the one sitting around.

OEM mirrors suck.  Bar ends instead but if oem needed maybe V11 Sport mirrors might work.

I just got a set of the OEM bar end mirrors that come on the V7 III Stone S and Racer 10th anniversary and the quality of them is top notch. All metal vs plastic on my stock racer mirrors and they seem rock solid. I suspect they had someone like Rizoma make them for them as they seem very similar to the Rizoma's on my friends bike.

Sounds like Guido got his act together.  My Breva 750 came with 2 left mirrors.  Right side was mounted in reverse.

I know.  I tend ignore the peripherals to the bike itself.  My '73 V7Sport didn't come with mirrors or turn signals.  My Cal 1100i suffered like all the rest of the Californias.  Tail light housing failures.  Still have both.

I don't think the factory figured that their products would be on the road that long to endure as classic bikes.  IMHO.  Like any manufacturer, they want to keep selling new products.

Yes, I agree that they're crap, which is why I didn't pursue this when I owned the bike.   I put a nice pair of CRG bar-end mirrors on it, and was happy with them.

The new owner of the bike had enquired about them after the purchase, and I was just trying to help him out.

Found mine after some more looking and it is a left side mirror.  The right side mirror cracked at the ball joint and fell off.  At that time I think MG wanted $150 or something like that for a replacement (maybe per pair?).  I'm much happier with my replacements.
If you are still looking then PM me and we can work something out to cover shipping.
