Snap your suspenders and pick it apart why you can't get it. Nice comfortable riding position like days of old.

It's also on MGNOC site. Don't know seller.

Y'ep saw that a couple of days ago.  Under-rated bike, the Jackal is an easy platform to mess with. :thumb:  Check with your DMV on how it handles a "salvage" title.

"Comes with salvage title. Converted from California Jackal using OEM and repro parts. Mileage is approximate, speedo has been replaced. Currently registered and insured daily rider."

All the things that scream not anywhere near a $2400 bike. $500 to 800 parts bike maybe??

My thoughts too.  Out here a salvage title means that it can't be legally sold till it's repaired by a certified shop that can work on salvage vehicles.  After the repairs are done then a "rebuilt" title can be issued.  A dealer for the brand does not automatically make it a certified salvage repair shop.  If you can't transfer a salvage title in NY then run to the nearest exit.

Hell , the dual disc front end with Gold Line Brembos and the tubeless wheel is worth a grand . Salvage title or not , for a rider that is a lot of motorbike for the money , anyone priced a set of those wheels lately  Someone offered me $600.00 for the wheels off the Bassa .

 Dusty

my thinking too.  Looks like a cool resto-mod to me.  I guess the only issues would be any damage to the bike the affects the riding experience (doubtful) and the semi-forward mount pegs.  Otherwise, it looks cool and has some nice parts on it.

If I didn't already have two motorbikes I probably would , well that and the fact it is 1700 miles away . I mean shyte , we have seen non-running motorbikes being drooled over priced at more than the bags are worth on this one .

Someone has tuned it in to quite a nice naked road bike.  Twin discs and all.  "Write-off" titles here mean a load of anguish before it can be reg'd and wof'd.  Once you have those it's no problem.

Depends on why it is a salvage title.  If all the tin is good and the drivetrain is solid...it might be a wonderful parts source to convert...something .

Awesomeness, great roll your own

I’m still amazed how well a guzzi can change clothes and still look like it’s wearing a tuxedo. The stainless looks great

Here on the east coast, most, have gone the Vermont registration route for paperless children…several services are offered by mail. I trailered the bike to the state dmv for a VIN check written onto VT paper, not an inspection for CT registration. Took awhile for them to understand that. Received VT plates and reg. Transferred that paperwork for a new CT state registration. Works.

“Currently registered and insured…”

The current reg of the previous owner, plus bill of sale, is all i need here in CT. Shows the flow of ownership, regardless of title status. Crazy state rules everywhere

But the VT route at least for PA residents means you pay VT tax on a minimum of $1,500 or current KBB book value. Whatever is higher. Then when you get the VT registration and take it to PA DMV you will PA 6% PA sales tax and title fee's unless you can prove you have owned the bike for something like two years. In the end it will cost you sever hundred dollars taking away from that sweet $2,400 deal of a lifetime.

Speaking about the salvage title issue.
In NC, any vehicle that has been in an accident and received damage that in a dollar amount the insurance company “totaled” the vehicle, must have a “salvaged” title attached. The damage can be very minimal and just cosmetic but the cost of repair would be more than the book value of the bike.
The salvage title thing  would not keep me from buying the bike if I wanted it.

If the plan is to put on the road one should also check with their insurance company (if your state requires it) to verify they will insure it or if their is anything you need to do, have done or verified before they will insure it.

So many bikes out there with good titles for short money unless you get a screaming deal its really not worth buying a bike with a salvage title. Buying it for parts or to part out is different but it is still valued well below the same bike with a "clean" title. YMMV.

Tank looks like 850 Le Mans (or a repro), seat looks like a V7 Sport (or repro).

I'm surprised that the Lemans tank is such a good fit, I'd have thought the jackal upper frame brace would get in the way?

and likewise the seat...

got me thinking!!

I don't remember any "upper frame brace" that would prevent it from fitting. It does look like the builder "clearanced" (dented) the front of the tank on both sides to retain full steering lock.

jackal has a longer steering stem, which sits higher on the frame and there are tabs coming off the top frame rail to the top of the stem...

a picture would be worth a thousand words here!

didnt notice the dents...

Pegs are too far forward. But that could be fairly easily fixed. Glad that it's a ways away :thewife:

A friend of mine in Alabama went through this with a Jeep he could not bear to part with.  It was easily totaled because of its age.  He negotiated with the insurance company to keep it and received a salvage title.  Before he could put it back on the road, he had to fix the damage, pay for an inspection, and then was issued a "rebuilt" title.  It is only with the "rebuilt" title that you can register the car for the road.

Not sure how that works in New York City, but I would definitely do your homework or you might end up with a $2400 paper weight.
