I bought a selection of used Moto Guzzi factory tools off a gentleman in Germany, this was in the box. Any one know if it is a Guzzi special tool and what it is for.

All of the special bearing punches, race sets and many of the wrenches came in the lot

It looks like a bearing or seal installer. :-\

That's a nice set of tools. Were they ever used? The tool your referring to looks like a seal installer. One seal on one engine or transmission. Very dedicated. When are you going to open shop? :BEER:

You might send an email and photo to Charlie Cole. He purchased all of the Guzzi tools from Raceco way back when and knows as much about Guzzi transmissions and rear drives as anyone. If he doesn't recognize it I'd suspect it's a Trabant muffler bearing driver.

You can get lots of things remarkably similar at the 'Adam and Eve' shop in Fyshwick........... .

I have no idea but my first reaction was that it was some sort of alignment or a seal/bearing tool. After a second look I'm not so sure. :BEER:

Maybe I should saw it in half and see if there is a plug in there :BEER:

It's a strange one, a raised notch on the centre band, taper one side as if it centers discs of some kind, round flat on the opposite to fit into a bearing or something similar.

I have Mick Walkers book , it has diagrams of all the special tool kits for big twins.. nothing in any of the pics looks like your blue plug.
is it solid or hollow.. it doesn't look like anything you'd hammer on, could it be to measure something, or a placeholder of some kind?.
does the color match some of the other tools so it's for sure from the kit? those are sure pretty tools.

Its solid steel, looks to be a factory type tool but I can't find anything in a Guzzi tool diagram that looks like it, I will probably find it handy for something down the road.

What is over all length, and cylindrical dia?

I theorize that the raised bump is to fit into a slot, and rotate into a groove, to hold in place, maybe against spring pressure.
