Title: 1400 bar risers
Post by: JohninVT on April 16, 2019, 03:23:23 PM
I need to raise my bars an inch.  Does anyone besides Todd sell bar risers?  TIA

John? Will Onur's risers work? From memory the Cali 14 touring uses the same risers as Griso? If that is the case then Onur's will work.

Obviously different rides but I have risers on my Griso and they, along with dropped pegs, have allowed me to continue to ride long distances. Something that with the original bars and their rise was getting a bit marginal.

Can you post a pic of your current set up?

Pete

Hi John,                                                                                                                         4-17-19

I got these for my Cali 1400.  They are from Fast by Ferracci.  However...even though F by F closed their doors about two years ago, but I got these last year.  Apparently they still had new stock, maybe they still do.  ALSO, They are pricey...$180.  They look great, work great for me and do not need any fancy cable work.  I think that 1" is the max rise before you have to re-rout or extend cables.  Good luck, DougG

One Inch Rise?

Go buy a couple of 1/2" drive sockets that measure 1-inch long.  Buy a couple of bolts that are an inch longer than stock.

It's an easy mod, and the price is nice.  Here's an extreme example, but you get the point:

Sockets wouldn’t really work....

They're the same risers as Griso John. AFAIK Onur is still making them. I'll take a pic of the ones on my Griso a bit later.

Onur?  I remember that Mike Bui made some for the 1200 Sport but John Onur doesn’t sound familiar.

Sorry. Onur Kuraner (Sp.). He's Turkish and makes a few accessories for various Guzzi models. Ordering from him is a bit of a PITA as there is some sort of spat between Paypal and Turkish officialdom which means you can't pay him that way but have to do it through Western Union or one of those mobs.

Really nice gear. He also produces tank rings for Givi 'Tanklock' bags for various models. I'm pretty sure I've got his email somewhere. I'll PM it to you.

As others have said, they are the same as the Griso. I added some SW Motech universal risers for the Stornello that mount between the bar and stock riser. Well made, nice finish, blend perfectly. Depends if you want them at the bar or the base of the stock riser.

After the addition of these risers how does it effect ones ridding position??

Completely changed it for me, put me in a more upright riding position, and far more comfortable.

Right after putting them on I did a up and back trip from Louisville to Chicago in one day, no more pain between the shoulder blades.  I love the difference they made.

Hi John,                                                                                                                                                                 4-18-19

The GTMotocycles (Vintagehoarder) units are the same style as the Fast by Ferracci risers and considerably less expensive.  The advantage of these risers is that they bring the bars closer to you as well as higher on the tree.  If that is important to you...it worked out well for me, more upright riding position and elbows less extended, etc.

Be well,
DougG

If those machined spacers will work, so will my Duralast sockets from Autozone!

Yes, the sockets would work, but I think it would be lacking in the looks dept.

Between Vintagehorder and Ropes. If you want more back and not so much up, go with Vintagehoarder. If just more up, go with Roper. Both look like they came with the bike.

I went with Rox Risers for my EVT. I mainly wanted back, not up, and they work fine for that.

Just my 2 cents.

Tom

Those look great.  Do you have contact information for the vendor?  TIA, Pete.

John, if you buy a set and don't like them I'll buy them from you and try them myself and if I don't like them I'll pass them on likewise.

Strange this came up.
I coupon weeks ago I ordered a set like that from Revzilla however like got the 1.5” high as well as back or forward depending on which way you turn them. They were pricey, a little over 100 bucks. however very well made billet aluminum, black.
I have an 02 Stone with 1400 tourer bars that one of our fellow members gave to me a while back.
I got the 1 1/8” size which fit the 1400 bars but had to use the same spacers I had made to fit the 1 1/8 1400 bars to the Stone. All came out perfectly and it sure does improve my seating position drastically.

I think a started a post a while back about how much difference just 1 and 1/2 inches makes🤔👿

More comfortable riding position, in my case.  I have had them installed since 2015 and highly recommend them.

I'm 6' 1" and made me more upright which was the desired outcome.

Now this has got my attention . I've developed a painful muscle knot in my right shoulder blade area after about an hour in the saddle
of my 2018 Eldorado . I have an older Guzzi ( much modified Le Mans 2 , kinda T-3 ) and with it's more forward reach and slightly lower
bar reach I've been able to ride 'til my butt hurts and no muscle cramping . I was considering bringing the grips forward and down with
some bars I'm considering making . But these risers and bar back risers seem much easier . But has anyone here suffered similar muscle
cramps and cured them with a riser addition ? My wife really has to rub in the "Voltaren" to allow us to carry on . Peter

It's funny, just did a 600 mile loop and had mad neck/shoulder issue on return home. Went around the country on my 2014 1400 Touring and nothing. I'm looking at some riser change
