What were the year to year changes for the V7Racer?
« on: March 23, 2016, 01:11:09 PM »
I believe the first year for the racer was 2012.  Some had metal tanks, some didn't.  I know there were also engine and transmission changes.  Can someone outline the changes and is any year preferable?

Thanks,

Mike

2014 (world) or 2015 (US) wet 270W alternator replaced dry 350W unit
2015 (world) or 2016 (US) 6-sp gearbox, ABS/TC, different frame with slightly different egos, motor mounting angle and position.
Not sure which year (2014 or 2015 world, 2015 or 2016 US) changed from chrome to black handlebars, mirrors, injector covers, etc.

Is the racer a solo seat only?  That is, does the seat cowl come off?

I ask because it would be nice to put some soft bags on one for weekends.

Racer comes with a solo seat but seats from the classic fit. Are you looking to buy a V7R? I have a low mileage 1 owner (me) 2012 with lots of goodies for a fair price.

O - good catch, I felt like there was another we were forgetting about.

2016.

Yeah, but he has Chrome tank listed for 2016, so was there also a US chrome tank or just that silver/black one?

You have to add a 2-up seat AND passenger footpegs.

Under the cowl, the seat has a hump.

Racer with Bags OVER the seat but the can also have the straps adjusted and be run UNDER. I've had them on both ways. Regardless you would have to remove the Cowl...4 hex bolts...about 5 minutes of work.

The chrome tank is part of the "dapper" factory accessories kit.

I much prefer the black metal tank on my 2012 to any of the other versions of the V7R.  The green simply is hideous....

I'm with you on the black tanks. For me the chrome tanks...... garish. Also dislike the rounded fins and valve covers on the single TB models,

Gimme the Legnano green first pick, but I'd settle for a black or that silver/black striped tank. The chrome is a deal breaker.

Same goes for the 1TB motor, I much prefer it both from looks and from there saddle.

This new Hemi head looks good too, now complete the package with a V9 Racer, painted tins, dual disk brakes!

All I want to do is get a ride in tomorrow.  Windy and fronts and Alzheimer's clinic and financial stuff have driven me batty for the past couple weeks.  Wind especially:  clocked 35 mph+ gusts today.  Spring is breezy here on the Gulf Coast.

On the V7R:  too bad they never made a Tenni Green version.

We will never see a V9 here.  Guzzi has abandoned Houston.  Tents folded.  Temple marbles carted off.  Gods no longer worshipped...

Maybe I will just get a new Thruxton R next year, and call it good.
