2VPC Norges Beyond 200k
« on: September 19, 2020, 07:52:06 PM »
I know there are several bikes on this forum that have passed 200,000 km by a large margin, but they differ from my Norge engine to such a degree that any advice I get might not be relevant.
So to this end I’d like (if possible) to focus on 1100/1200 big block 2VPC motors and drive trains.
Because I have bought another Guzzi, I have 12,000 k less on the Norge than would otherwise have been, it would have been at 196,000 by now and I would have been considering some maintenance items that I’ve not needed to pre emptively check so far.
I’m constantly amazed at how some of the expendables have stood up over 13 years.
Some original items are..
Fork seals
Front rotors
Caliper internals
All engine internals..(except cam chain tensioner upgrade)
Wheel bearings
TB’s never cleaned
Clutch
Drive shaft/splines
Bevel box never opened.
Point to all this is, what would you do to a big block 1100/1200 at 200,000 k just as a matter of course simply because it seemed rude not to ?
If - allows, I’ll be taking it to Mandello in 2021 and hope to turn over the 200,000 mark on that trip, the 100,000 mark turned over on the run into Paris in 2016.
I usually do 15,000 to 20,000 on those annual Euro jaunts, so with 16,000 to go, I’m on track....

Well I left Mandello with 199,300 on the clock and it turned over 200,000 outside Verona.

Can’t tell by looking..

Phenomenal!  What a great piece of history there….now ship it over to the US next year and do a Tour of Wildguzzi…Plenty of places to stay and ride!!!  At least gas is a bit cheaper here!

[/quote]I’d like to see if I could string a trip together and do nothing but go from WG member to member.
They’d need to be no more than 600 km apart…
I’m getting old..!
And before you say it…
I’d donate what I save in camping and hotel fees to the forum….
I’d be starting at Ncdan’s place.
Also.
Anyone who puts me up, can take my V85 in Australia for a trip, free of charge.
Granted it’s no Norge, but gets the job done.

No doubt - Pride & Joy, what a musical genius, the music just flowed with Stevie!!

We can always take you to a super hole in the wall here in town, a dive bar called The Big Easy.  Alan Haynes plays there regularly...he's played with quite a few of the big boys of blues over the years...you'll recognize the names!   And if you come this way, you'll for sure need to route thru and see BB King's blues museum in Mississippi and ride parts of the Great River Road.  I popped thru there last year on a trip...quite fun, and well then Muddy Waters stomping grounds at the Chequerboard, Sun Studios, Muscle Shoals..the list is endless!!
