I wonder how long before inflation and eBay fees catch up with the owner.  People either want to sell something or they donít. It is very pretty though and probably sounds great.

Its been off and on Ebay for at least two years alomng with some other bikes the seller has listed including a Ducati MHR.

A bike, or any other item, commodity etc, is worth what the market will pay and the market is clearly not going to pony up to the sellers asking price, if the seller was serious about selling the bike at market value he would lower his price. I think the LeMans in this Ebay listing is a $18 ~ $20K bike (tops) and the number of potential buyers for these bikes is shrinking each year as us boomers age out.

Its kind of an old salesman trick. Ask way too high and raise initial offers.
He IS accepting offers. The high asking price will probably increase the initial offers even if too low. If not in a hurry, this will eventually work and net him a grand or so more than what he would otherwise get. At least that is what he may be thinking. buyer will think; "I got him down $10,000!" and be happier with spending $18k than he would have been otherwise.
Or perhaps he sells a lot of classic bikes and is using it as a 'rabbit' or pacesetter to raise expectations across the market. Things like this skew the NADA guides.
or perhaps just a bit eccentric and demented?

If he's actually serious about selling, he's fishing in a very small pond. That group of buyers who recognize, appreciate and can afford a Moto Guzzi classic, but are not knowledgeable enough and are too lazy to find out what the going prices are. It's a phone booth sized group. Maybe smaller.

Look at his many other listings.  It's obvious that this is one of those people who genuinely believes his stuff is worth more than everybody else's stuff. One in every crowd.
I use inflated listings like his to impress on my wife just how much I "saved" with my latest impulse buy. And when I'm selling on a local online classifieds, those greedily priced similar items help my reasonably priced things sell quick.

What's not to love?

I like the diversion tactic. I will have to try it.

He's in dreamland.

If he put it on BAT with no reserve, he'd get nowhere near $26K, and we know
that many of the sale prices for bikes on that site are inflated.

I'd rather look at that again instead of 3 pages of brake pads.

Who cares what price the seller is asking or how many times he's reposted it. Its his bike to do with what he wants.

I would assume he knows that his pricing is not in line with current market value or that if he were to put it on BAT with no reserve he'd probably not get close to his asking price. I'm also guessing that is why he has not put it on BAT with no reserve. But again who cares what he does with his property?

I wonder if the bike was priced at current market value how many here would be serious buyers? I mean honestly interested in buying not tire kicking and using excuses like I need to sell some bikes, its too far away, out of room, if I we're younger etc. You know all the oldies but goodies.

I believe this is an old wives tale to make us feel better about what others are asking for their stuff. I mean women aren't stupid and understand value. You certainly think that after 2 years of repeatedly being listed for the same price and not selling she'd be wise if she was pushing for the sale.

Maybe it truly a case of there is an ass for every seat and the seller has the patience to wait it out.

Either way who cares its the sellers problem to deal with.
