How many will be sold in Aus at 21K?

I have been a Guzzi fan for many years and have had my LM3 and a Monza for close on 20 years (and an 850 T3 before that) but I find I ride my FJ1200 most times these days.

I like the look of the V85 but are people going to buy them at that price? Am I out of touch with pricing? The only bike I have bought new was a 750 Monster Ducati which I was disappointed with but I got most of my money back when I sold that one.

Do you have any idea if thats loaded and on roads? Or RRP for the poverty pack? Seems to be about 10-15% more than I would of expected especailly if they have things like the BMW F800 as a target market, wondering how much of that is the new importer.

I know different markets and different import duties but in the US the bag-less V85 is supposed to be around $12k.  With bags, $13k.
A bag-less but loaded F850 is in the $17k to $18k range.   The Guzzi comes in around 70% of the cost of the BMW.

Just did a quick search and the F800GS Adventure I'm guessing thats a mid range model but dunno is 19k (Adventure was top of the range once upon a time) @ 21k we are looking at 110% of the F800 price. Bit more of a basic browse 21k Is Africa Twin/Super tenere money. I could probably swing a left over 1190 KTM Adventure for that kind of money seems a bit stiff IMO although as Pete alluded to we had a change of importer a little while ago. One of the corporate giants of the industry locally and this is the first new model from Guzzi they have brought in I am thinking they might be trying to "reposition" the brand in the market.

Not worthless. :)   That's why I provided the prices of both bikes in the US.  Trying to create some sort of ratio which could be applied to other currency.  Perhaps a bogus exercise given other factors.

I think previous year f800gs bikes can be picked up more reasonably in the US but the 2019 f850gs is a bit too dear for my pocket.  People who love 'em do indeed love them though.  *shrug*

On a UK site I saw the Guzzi advertised for 11000 pounds.  I think that's around 17.5 k australian dollars.  21k seems steep but as others have pointed out there may be some importer premiums being added and I have no clue about import duties.

was salesman’s ish  not mine, did not try getting deal
but to compare apples use v7 variants rrp v usd price and apply that %
we do get similar leftover deals to USA
ie grisos still lying about in dealers
even new importers doing it to v9, $4k  cheaper than v7/3
so leftover v85 in 2020 may sell at world price

I guess the real question is the bike as good as the F850?

Who cares about the ins and outs of the price, you either want it or you bloody well don't.
When it's all said and done, the piddly couple of dollars here or there won't matter a bugger. We see bikes being farkled to the tune of hundreds if not thousands of dollars and then given away at fire sale prices here on WG. We've all seen it, some bugger buys a great behemoth Audace or Fortress thing and then amazingly decides 6 months later that it's too bloody big and drops a crap load of money by aggressively pricing it for a quick sale.
Money disappears down a hole and you never see it again, but you haven't lost an eye, so who cares ?
Just buy it, care for it, ride it, wear it out and buy another one, but don't sell it 2 months later for 3 thousand dollars less than you paid..
It's not hard..

I don't really want it but for Guzzi's sake I hope its a roaring sucess, for that it needs to be compedative, with other bikes, from other manufacturers and they are diving into a fairly crowded market segment IMO.

It's hard to define what "good" is.
My Norge isn't as "good" as my mate's BMW R1100S, but the Guzzi is a better bike because it's not as impersonal.

Just going by the spec sheet the F750 is a much closer match to the V85 (yes it is an 850 as well)
