So, may I offer a G5 CD? All the usual stuff that you might find useful.

Nice that you've found one after it's properly broken in.

Chuck, It's the ultimate Grosjean #. As in after passing all those compound arrangements of 454545.4 or my Acura cpe. sold @ 555,444.5 miles.
Spent last weekend w/friends on 40+ year old Guzzi's proving their fitness @ every 15 or 18% grade or downhill.  The old girl can sparkle.     Good fortune,  R3~
Doug Grosjean a motorcycling/pedal biking, rafting, inet friend of many years can be googled. Interesting guy.

The longer story:
We were visiting the Kid in Wisconsin, and he mentioned maybe we should visit Tim, have a look at his many bikes, cars, etc. Sounded like a great idea.. we hadn't seen them for a while. He *did* mention that Tim had a really nice G5 that he "might" let go. "You've been looking for a G5 for a while, haven't you?"
Well..
I *like* the Weird Harold instrument cluster..

Pretty clean, and Bub exhaust. Extra points for that.

That great G5 seat, with a little rework by Sargent. Dorcia sat on it, and pulled out the checkbook.  Almost all of her pillion time has been on the back of sporty Guzzis. (V10, V11S, Scura, Monza) Fairly new Koni's.

Factory rack, pretty new tires, etc. This is no barn find (my usual old Guzzi) or garage queen (had them too).
I'd say it's the nicest old Guzzi I've ever drug home. I very well may not even have to work on it. A first.
How's it run? Dunno. Never even started it, much less took it for a ride. Tim said it was good to go.."I'd ride it anywhere, and have." I believe him.  You can't beat buying a bike from a long time Guzzi/Norton/Triumph guy.  :thumb:
Oh, yeah.. a couple of boxes of spares, too.
I'm a happy camper.

Fork lowers are not G5 originals. Those are the convert / t3 ones, which were probably changed as an upgrade since the G5 front/rear brace tends to break and are not being reproduced and impossible to find.

Chuck's is an early G5, the same as mine was, with the same forks as a Convert/T3. Plastic cover on the tank, tiny tach and the same weird footpeg mounting.

Mine, back in '91:

The top photo was "as purchased", the bottom two were after I fixed it up a bit.

It never ceases to amaze me the depth of knowledge and obscure detail picked up by the Guzzista on here! What is different on the fork legs that gave it away? I was also guessing on which Tim,at first I thought ( Weird Tim) but then you threw in Norton and Triumph and ( Cal3me) Tim was the obvious choice! I don't think I have ever seen the tach in its little housing. Great find!

Thanks for the info, guys.  :thumb: Gotta love WG..
Coudn't stand it, so took it for an illegal no plate putt down our country road and back.
Initial thoughts:
Soft ride.. she'll love it.
Perfect riding position.
Needs carbs balanced.
Plenty powerful.
This is the bike I've occasionally been wishing I had for several years. (as if someone needs a motorcycle)
Note to self.. shop for corncob pipe..

 Bill R.

Hi Bill! Your Strada was a barn find bike that was intended to do the same job as this one. After I had much sweat equity and a little money in it, Dorcia gave it the thumbs down. Got Rich Maund to rework the seat for her. Nope. "I need to get off. No need to stop, I'll just jump.."  So.. somehow, it migrated to Sandy Eggo.
I'm pretty sure she is going to love this G5..

Hi Bruce.. it was just one of those happy circumstances. We really only went to visit, but I think the Kid greased the skids a little for us to get the G5. We had spent quite a bit of time just shooting the breeze, talking bikes, cars, and airplanes. As we were getting ready to leave, Tim mentioned that Brad had said we were looking for a G5. Want to see it? Told me the history of it.. he'd owned it 3 times.  Loaned it to a guy from out of the country to ride Rt 66 a couple of years ago. Brad said he'd take the Monza off my hands, so I would have room for it in the Guzzi Garage. (tm)  One thing led to another..
Really, I think the Kid was just lusting after the Monza. Every time he visits, he takes it for a ride.

Happy fourth to all! In response to the engine facing front fender brace, this is the G5 one that I thought all G5 had. Basically the lower forks have the horizontal bolt pattern like the SP and LM1. Those braces tend to break a lot for some reason. The Convert and T3 bolt pattern is verticle and it’s a different brace part number.
