In response to my original thread on the topic some have asked for updates so...
This continues to be an amazing new path in my life. Ruth and I will soon be returning to Albuquerque for our second visit. Have been in regular phone contact with very positive, informative and interesting conversations. All of my mother's extended family is now aware of me (previously only my deceased grandmother knew about me) and no one has had a heart attack or stroke over it.
Interesting that a first cousin that is only a year younger than me has the exact same job I did here in KS and there are only about 50 of those positions in the state.
My mother is planning to visit here mid summer requesting a glider and motorcycle ride. So that gives me much motivation to get current again this year as I would be honored to do both.
Sometimes life craps on you and sometimes life blows you a kiss, cherish those kisses.

Thanks for the remark and that you can find "great joy" from a friend's good fortune. That is a friend. Actually it has only been about four months, an amazing four months. As far as sharing my biggest hope is that I have not made an ass of myself from sharing this but this forum really is family and this is family news. Thanks to all that have tolerated me on this subject.

^^^No John , you haven't made an ass of yourself

Thanks for sharing.
With so many people with vested interests in spreading bad news, good news is always welcome.
Always good to hear about good families, or happy family events, with so many of the opposite being published.
Your not an ass at all, as the old saying goes "Shared sorrow is half sorrow, shared joy is double joy!"

Best wishes for the visit and reunion.

Things are finally coming together for my mother to come to KS. She has had both her - shots and Ruth and I will have are second on 3/24. She will be here around 4/19 and then we will drive her back probably the week after the CV rally. Her and Ruth will probably drive up to CV the Saturday of the rally.
Just ordered her a helmet. I asked her which bike she would prefer to ride on and then suggested the T-3 would probably be the easiest to get on and off. Her response was she wants rides on both the T-3 and the Norge along with the ATV. She is more than spry enough to deal with the Norge height. See some lunch rides coming.
Our relationship although all through phone, texts and e-mails this last year has really blossomed.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Glad I have been able to be part of something that is a positive force this last year. Guess 2021 was one for needing a mother.

John, I’m really happy for you. This is a really neat development and just goes to show that life is full of surprises. Some bad, sure. But some great.
Now.
Are you really, really sure you want them coming to Cedar Vale? Hope you have had frank discussions and warnings. :whip2:

Thanks for sharing this great news John. I’ll bet your mother is thrilled to get to know you. I would love to expand my family by one more. Also there must be so much about her family and your forbears to learn about.

Congrats!
A friend reunited with a family he never knew of. Heart warming to see the new family photo's and how his cousins look like twin brothers!

My mother has been with us since last Monday and will be staying through part of May. Finally the weather cooperated today and we had our first ride together. Did 45 miles and we both loved it.
