'78 SP1000 frame number
« on: August 01, 2022, 05:00:15 AM »
hey everyone, i've recently bought my first Guzzi, SP1000. Love the bike for it's character. Got interested in the history of the bike and I see this is the first year of production. What boggles me is the frame number, according to thisoldtractor it corresponds to Convert and the SP1000 start with VG18....
Mine is VG14260
Any ideas?

my bike:

I think is off that same document, but had it saved on my computer. This may help

Those are European frame numbers (stamped into the headstock of the frame). US market Guzzis have the frame number stamped into the VIN tag and (on big-blocks) they should match the engine number.

Thanks, I was referring to the same chart, and my number matches the Convert for some reason...

Quite so, my engine number is different and I also have the italian number stamped on the front of the headstock, next to the frame N.
