What’s it Worth?
« on: August 04, 2022, 10:39:23 PM »
Oh Great & Wise Guzzi Community,

Can you give me an idea what a 76’ 850 T3 that’s been sitting for 3+ years is worth? It was winterized before it sat. Cosmetically it’s just average but newer tires & newer Dunstall mufflers. It has about 63,000 miles. Tell me what you think.

No one here can tell you what it’s worth to you mate, but if you’re asking what you could sell it for 10 minutes after buying it…?
Then you’ve come to the right place..(But I’ve no clue..)

If it’s in good cosmetic and running condition and not much modified I would say 1500-2500 depending on condition. If the bores are still chrome knock a few dollars off. I tend to overpay though.

After you spend about $7500 for parts & maintenance on it, it’ll be worth about $3500.

I’d knock $1,500 bucks off the asking price for chrome barrels. Yes, more money then the actual parts but it’s your time and we are talking about a bike that is only worth about $4,500 bucks when it’s a very nicely finished example.

Agree with sdcr....CMV - (Current Market Value) would be about $2500-$3500 max....(IMHO)

The choir is all in tune.   I agree with the values.

Sitting for 3 years may be a blessing if it has chrome bores.  I wouldn't so much as crank the starter until I determined if it has chrome bores or not.

My T3 when I purchased it - rough as a cob.

After megabucks and lots of sweat equity I am completely upside down on this bike, but could care less.  A well fettled T3 is a fine machine to own.

I had a mechanically sorted T3 for sale here ($4200) and FB ($4500). Prices are from memory. When I sold it in a day or two, three people asked me for the buyer’s number…. Was a mechanical 9.5/10 cosmetic 7.5/10.

Could not agree more, very fine motorbikes. It’s just that the “ values” are screwy.

I guess value depends a whole lot, on whats gone into the bike. A bike that is properly restored and documented with photos, will always bring more than average market $$.There is no way a "Dave Swanson restoration" will  be worth$3500-$4000 when finished. It would be worth much more.  I still think old  Guzzis are a bargain, in the vintage bike world.

Yeah, but this thread pertains to Kevin’s 850 T3, that’s been sitting for several years.
No pictures, so condition  is essentially unknown.

the Wixom bags are worth a $1000. They fit the design of the bike and they do not leak. Period! Knock off the crap about water repellant, water resistant, water retardant and using a bag liner. The Wixoms keep the contents DRY! This is my experience from running many miles in heavy rain, not by putting a water hose on them to see if they leak.
