I like #4-- Buy a used rear drive. Want me to look down here? My son in law has a diesel truck shop.
Buy a used rear end with a different ratio? May need speedometer jiggery then though.
If you have the money...OPTION ONE! Life is short...then you die...and you are not taking anything with you! .Time to "Let It Roll!!"
Dang vehicles can be a headache at times!
Is the failed rear end a ring gear or pinion failure? If so maybe parts would be easier to find and have a mechanic to rebuild if you can’t. Or, buy a cheap used car that you can get your money back or most of it, when you can get your truck fixed. I think either way you are going to have to get the truck fixed because selling it broke ain’t a good idea financially.
The mechanics said main bearing is going out in the rear end and whole rear end has to be replaced on this model truck. It is a 2014 ram truck 3.82 rear end 4x4. I’m leaning toward either buying something used or just sticking with my motorcycles until the ram can be fixed. I’m not interested in leasing because I was informed that that is the biggest rip off out there and I put on too many miles. 25k per year
Bob, are you married to that rear end ratio? I'd look around for any ratio rear drive that would fit to get the truck up and running rather that have it set. Letting it set for 6 months? You'll end up with more problems with it by the time the rear drive is repaired. Get it running then sell it or trade it. Used trucks, regardless of mileage, are an easy sell, as long as they are in running condition.
