Laverda Project

Advertised as a 1974 Laverda SF1, drum brake. The carbs, exhaust and headlight look older (71 ~ 72?) but the gauges (ND) are correct for 73. By 74 they were disc brake either single or dual front disc (SF2).

Seller is accepting offers, for $3K it may be OK.

Cool beans!!  ...but even at $3K...one would easily have to put another $3K-$5K to make it prime! :thumb:

Mint examples of this model go for $6500-$8500 all day long! :thumb:

With the exhaust crossover located very close to the exhaust ports, I would call it an earlier 71-72 model as well.  Of course, that doesn't mean it would be titled as such either when sold new or now.

The other details matter, too.  I understood that the crossover migrated away from the head as time passed and only the earliest SF1 bikes had that actual head pipe & crossover.  I've still got one of them hanging in the rafters, one of the few leftovers from my early SF1.

As far as price, those wheel/brake assemblies are realistically $1200.00 each now if not more.  I would expect the bike would part out for $3k if not more without a lot of trouble...

Yeah, but yours wasn't a "Laverda," it was an "American Eagle."

Mine is one number later than this one. Lucas switch gear, ND instruments, and Bosch headlight assembly
date it as one manufactured in mid-1972. Of course it could have been purchased at a later date and
designated as a '73.

I love Lav 750's. And to my eye the small carb'd SF/1/2 are better than later versions.

The Drum brakes really are great - modern dog leg levers help alot.

that's a good deal there.
