Ok, 4-speed gearbox is in and shifting nicely,thanks to all who contributed and the roper articles..
However, Rear drive goes clakaclakclakclakac lak when I spin the rear wheel by hand in neutral.
Out on the road its inaudible except in 4th when it's bloody loud!
I put a new U-J carrier bearing in while it was apart, and all seems good up until the rear drive...
Any tests I can do to evaluate whether the rear drive needs a rebuild? How much play/slop is permitted?
