Royal Marines Jet Suit Boarding Exercise

Gravity suit for real life Ironman.  No need to initially use helicopter.

From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉

I mean its cool and all, but to presume that nobody on the destination ship might be responding in anger seems to be very hopeful - unless it is only to be used for rescues and such and not as a way to get Marines onboard in a hurry.

That was my thoughts too.  Since it was an exercise, I also wondered for the possibility of an ocean dunking.  Recovery and maintenance of the equipment, salt water is very corrosive.

Since the mothership and other minions surrounding the ship in question are back-ups.  I'd say low chance of incoming fire to the operators but yeah on the safety of the operators.

If the suit can be removed quickly I see great potential for rescue and first responder missions.

Yeah.  If they can get the flight time up to 15 minutes, really worth while.  :thumb:

Mountain Rescue have been trialling it too. Instead of walking up the mountain for 2 hours the jet suit can get there in minutes cos it overflies the terrain.

It does have a certain, "Hey, Bob, did you notice those guys in the two Zodiacs following us?  And what's this business with the jet pack?  Do you think we should... like... prepare to repel boarders or anything?"  "Don't worry, Harry, it can't have anything to do with us," quality about it.

But it is way cool.

The British are terribly polite as are their criminals they chase.
No one would dare to hurt that Bobby with a jet pack! ;-)
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.
