QUOTE: Lemoncello is for white trash Italians.... So said the "Don" of my family.... I will just pretend I really did not read that ignorant comment on this forum....and, it's spelled "LIMONCELLO"
I've been drinking a lot of Larceny lately. It's pretty good, don't tell anyone so the price doesn't go up.
You can pretend all you want, was said tongue in cheek, and repeating my great uncle Vincent who came from Italy as a teenager with his parents and 6 siblings. He was full of all kinds of such colorful statements. He and my Irish grandfather (who married his sister) went to war together in WW2 and always had the most colorful of arguments. No offense intended.
My last post can also be applied to Huzos' post about "Is this how they'll do it".
Basil Haydens “Dark Rye” is delicious. Too delicious, the bottles disappear quickly. I’ll bring some to Moto Grappa next week.
Everyone here swoons over Buffalo Trace. I don't know, never had it.Anyway, I was at the local package getting my usual economy Scotch and saw a specially boxed three pack. Two other bourbons + the Trace. Apparently these were preordered sets, in which the bottles would be engraved two days after initial delivery. I suppose one could commemorate an event or inscribe it with someone's name? Anyone heard of this. Me, I usually stick to Scotch.
I like Scotch and Irish, too but that's another thread.Gerry, dark rye from BH is mixed a rye/sherry mix. it's good but on the sweet side for sure. Noah's Mill? Spot on, sir, SPOT ON.
Buffalo trace is loaded with history. They also make Blanton's and Eagle Rare. Ancient rick houses. They don't rotate the barrels, so there is quite a difference between the lower and upper stacks. They don't advertise it, but Buffalo Trace is mostly 9 years old. It gives a mellow flavor with signature caramel notes. Inexpensive to boot ( Guzzi Content) when you can find it.
One of my favorites and buy whenever I find it.....
I don't care for wheated bourbons like Makers Mark or Larceny, though the Larceny does get better 6 months or a year after it has been opened.
Well if we all bring a sample up our favs to the national we can have quite a taste testing experience.Gerry
I corrected my post above. The Dark Rye is rye and port, not sherry. And, two kinds of rye. BH and a Canadian rye blender with port.
I used to bring the cigars to the rallies/meets in the SE. But that was another life ago it seems.
