Help me before I sin again!!
« on: June 04, 2021, 08:06:09 PM »
OK, OK- so I've been living a happy, peaceful, stress free life in a polyamorous relationship with a 2014 BMW R1200R and a CB1100.  The CB is a completely fantabulous bike- but it doesn't fill a different enough slot from the BMW.  I know, I know. It's always been reliable and beutiful and all my friends like it.  Nevertheless, it's up for sale...sniff

So on to the assistance. I know someone with a LM I  in blue. From what I understand, the Ice Blue is pretty rare (but I don't know the count).  The bike is all original and unrestored. Paint looks decent and no noticeable damage. I'll assume it will need  replacement of the jugs, all rubber, etc. However, as i recall, parts are not really a problem for these bikes.

What does everyone think? It should be a doable resto so long as i can get parts. Any thoughts on value in current condition?

Thanks!

Don't buy it.

Just post the name and number of guy selling it on this board.  Then don't ever think about buying this bike again.

You sir, are an enabler.  I figured it would be fun to have the BMW for actual riding and the LMI for a project. It certainly is worth something when done. I'm trying to get a clue about $$$ to buy it. Knowledgeable enough owner- but not a Guzzisti. I'm not the type who likes to be hammered or hammer other people. I'm just trying to figure out what is fair.

Get it.

My crystal ball says that there will not be a time in the future when you kick yourself for selling a CB to buy an LM1... And if there is, it says someone here will find a a suitable CB to offer in trade in order to right your apparently regrettable lapse in judgment.

If it's a nice original & complete bike, anything between $5k -$10k seems fair depending upon condition. How nice do you want to be?

Well LM1,2,3 are selling between $15 and $40k in this part of the world so I'd grab it and do your worst.

Forget fair or not fair. Buy it then start a thread.

Get it so I can live vicariously through your purchase  :boozing:I’ve been out of the Guzzi owner’s club now for maybe 3 or more years even and I don’t even have a damn token to show for it.  Keep thinking I’ll jump back in one day when the time is right.

Just buy it, there are plenty of Honda’s out there but very, very few ice blue LM1’s
If it’s original, complete, and looks decent then $7-$9K is a steal / deal, seller probably wants a lot more
It’s iron cylinders so not the same issues as an earlier V7 Sport, Eldo etc….
To make it dependable and safe plan on spending at least a couple thousand, if you want to restore it then plan for at least $6-$8k more.
Regardless of what it costs the LM1 is not going to loose value whereas the Honda is only going down in value.

Available in Phoenix. I went to the Front Row Moto Show last weekend and enjoyed seeing several Guzzis in the wild. :bike-037:
