"Hugely talented, a true star, but a kind and humble man who loved to perform. Anyone who ever saw him live will never forget him."
I'd say that was accurate.  Peace be upon him.

He was one of those rare performers who always made you feel like that performance, at that time, was the most important thing to him in the world. He'd get up on the balls of his feet and give the mike every ounce that he had. That was a guy with heart and soul by the truck load. That choir full of angels is going to have thier hands full trying to hold onto Joe.

I saw Joe live in Indy on the same bill with Stevie Ray Vaughn the night before SRV was killed.

I will miss Joe very much, he was truly a unique singer.  Unfortunately, cigarettes are claiming a lot of our rock heroes these days.

That was Bobby Kets , more associated with the Stones , but yes , he was with the M,D & E tour . My generations icons are all getting on now , and considering the lifestyle most of them lived , it's surprising so many are still alive.
Of course Stevie Ray had cleaned up his life , and look what happened to him  :-\

Well, like the great Eubie Blake said, "If I'd known I was 'gonna live this long............... ........"

And that takin' better care thing, workin' for Keith Richard 'eh? ;D

It can be tough on the health for musicians. Tobacco, alcohol, drugs, poor diet, stress. Amazing that Keith Richards is still playing..

Will always remember the performance of Cocker and Belushi on SNL.  Joe had a great sense of humor to go along with the gag.....classic.  Hopefully they're rocking the pearly gates.
Enjoy two great talents we've lost.

That guy was the real deal.Where are the singers today that have a fraction of that energy? I remember my jaw dropping when I first saw his Woodstock performance.

Too bad about Joe.  I just saw him the other day in a rerun of Woodstock on one of the cable channels.  Definitely unique.

So long Joe. Smiles and happy memories of your magical voice. You left us feel in' alright with a little help from our friends. You knew it was high time you went up where you belong. You are so beautiful. Always a fan. Humbly and with sadness. Don.

Sue & I saw Joe with his band on a double bill with Steve Winwood and his band back in the day, early 90's at the Ball Park in Old Orchard Beach, excellent performance by all.  We rode down there on our new '89 LeMans...

At the end of one tune Joe introduced the back up singers as "My Babies"...

Sad day today.

I sing Joe Cooker's "You Are So Beautiful" to my daughter whenever it plays. When she was younger she would sit there like she was hypnotized. Now she is more grown up and gets embarrassed, but I know she likes it.

John Lennon said that Joe's versions of Beetles' song were the only covers he enjoyed.
