Beginning Thursday September 9th and going through Sunday the 12th. Planning on the Midway, Utah area again. Gauging interest to see if I should rent the Campground at the State Park again. I can pick it up for all 3 nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Has nice showers and restroom as well as a covered seating area. The space can accommodate up to about 40 pretty easily.
I will also be reserving some rooms at the Zermatt resort, they will usually give us a pretty decent rate and coming off the - stuff, I believe they will be anxious to have an awesome group of Guzzista!
I realize I am turning this thing on a bit later than I would have preferred, however I will get it done.
This is "not a rally" so there's no entry fee. All are welcome to come and enjoy the beautiful area and roads that surround the area. There are many good eateries, and Saturday night I will cook some brats and host a group dinner.

Spent a few hours up in Midway yesterday. I have a spot reserved on Friday night at an Italian restaurant in town, they will have live music and there are motorcycles on the walls of the place. I think we will fit in well.
I am still waiting for a bid from the resort for accommodations there, however the campground group rate went up 50% to $150.00. I am still happy to reserve that for those who want to camp.
I came up with some new ride ideas out of the area and I am working on a private tour of some fun stuff.
I will update this thread as I get more stuff lined up.

Last Guzzi Get Together was great. Great Campsites and hot showers!
Ian and I might be able to make it again we just have to pick a better place on the 50 to camp after / before Ely. Cave Lake was bad for us. I noticed a lot of the "campsites" in Nevada are gravel for trailers and RV's which is really rotten for a tent.

Mark, great to hear from you. As I recall the last one was your break in run for you. I get the Hwy 50 thing, I enjoy the solitude of crossing it as well as 6 to the South......B U T there ain't a lot out there that's for sure!
It's looking like the Zermatt resort is going to come in, in the neighborhood of where it was last time, so around $139+ taxes and fees.
I should be able to firm up everything through this week.

Last time we had a pretty good contingent come in from British Columbia, but I think as of this moment that may not be an option.

Dennis and Bisbee, thanks for chiming in. I am working on grinding the resort just a little bit, so I haven't got the exact number yet. There's another place across the street, but I do prefer the Zermatt.
Fubar, I remember when you were coming, wasn't there like a tornado or flood or some kind of unforeseen circumstance that derailed you? Anyway, I will look forward to meeting you and I'm certain we can get your electronics thingies dialed in. At the last one Dan, Mark and Alan showed me what was up on my Stelvio, having someone show the way gives a lot of confidence when playing with the "black magic" of those ECU's.

Wow, has it been 3 years already. Sure look forward to attending again this year(camping). Now if I can just find a bike to ride there. Sold my Stelvio recently and am shopping around for a replacement. I still have an Yamaha XT250, but might have a bit of trouble keeping up on the group rides. :wink:

Here's a thread bump and an update. The group site has been booked by another group for that Friday night. I am in the process of finding out how many people we can put into an individual site, and if there are a specific number of them I can either reserve in advance or something so they can be together.
I apologize, when I checked the campground a while ago, all of the dates were available for the group site. It will be more like the KOA in Ouray, with individual sites. I will find out if maybe we can get 3 or 4 to a site, I would have to think, certainly 2 could fit for sure.

Ok, I have some clarification on the camping. The Oak Hollow loop is tent camping, each site has tent pad, table and fire pit. I think if everyone books Oak Hollow sites 88-96 that would be a good area, near the bathroom and showers. I will get a link so you can get to it pretty quickly.

Here is a link for the individual campsites. We are in the Pine Creek Campground, Oak Hollow Loop.
If you will book the sites from approx. 88-96 that will get everyone in the same general area. Site 94 is a double site and can accommodate up to 4 tents pretty easily.
I would suggest that you buddy up with someone, the rate is $35 per night, and an extra vehicle in $8 per night. I asked them if we had to pay the extra fee and they would not waive it.

Mike, you had talked about wanting to bring your truck and camp. If you use the Mahogany loop, sites 50-53 or 79-81 that will get you pretty close to everyone.
I will plan on hosting dinner Saturday night, and will get the particulars figured out for that.

JJ! Bring the crew up and enjoy a little bit cooler weather. The ride over Jacob's Lake on the way up is beautiful and Highway 89 from Kanab to Richfield is a pretty nice stretch of road. Don't forget the Lemoncello!

Great Dan, we can get 2 for sure and many I think would accommodate 3. This loop is "above" where we were last time. So, right after you come through the gate you will turn right and go up the hill a little bit.

There's supposed to be a storm coming through the first part of next week, but if the fires are still going strong, it will obviously come back.
Midway is on the east side of the mountains, and the valley up there is a little bit better that the Wasatch front.........a little bit.

Well Michael, that looks a lot better than here did last week. We have had a good storm come through and clear out the air, hopefully it will stay this way or the fires will mellow out a bit.
A new fire started on the mountain just north and west of Midway last Saturday, it was causing a bit of a mess. I would think the rains would have helped with that as well
3 weeks to go, going on a few scouting runs the week before to check on construction issues and what not.

I plan on having a trailer available, so I can haul the stuff I need to feed all you fine folks. I will be arriving Thursday afternoon at the Zermatt and ride over to the campground to check in on everyone.
Plan on a dinner meet up around 6ish or so.
Meet in front of the Zermatt on Friday morning at 10 am, full of fuel and ready to roll with kickstands up at 10:15. Friday ride will be over the Alpine loop into American Fork Canyon and up into Draper/Cottonwood area. Lunch over here somewhere. Then up Big Cottonwood Canyon, Guardsman Pass and back to Midway. We have reservations at a great little Italian Bistro in Midway, live music and a cool vibe.
Saturday, 10 am meet in front of Zermatt and ride down into East Canyon and on to Morgan. Grab some lunch at a little dive bar and then circle back how we came in. This ride will be a little shorter than the Mirror Lake highway we did last time. I think it will be easier the next day for those with long travels. I will get dinner started around 6ish over in the campground plan on eating by 7 or so and hang out around the campfire telling lies to each other and planning the next time we get together.

I'm not Roy, but I'm only about 10 miles from the venue right now. No fires any where near here. Some clouds that look like they have a little moisture in them, so hard to tell what could be smoke from the west, or what could be moisture in the air. No smell of smoke.

UT Rider... what’s the dive bar in Morgan? I’m going to be cutting it close to make that ride but might be able to hit that bar for a meet up.
I’m heading out to Buffalo Wy for the Longmire Days next Wed (very scaled back this year). Plan is go ride BearTooth Pass on the way back but have some other targets as well. Will try to get to campsite in Midway if possible.
The dive bar is my fallback plan. Is it The Post or the old Kelley’s?

If you ride Beartooth, plan to include Chief Joseph Scenic Byway (WY-296) as well. Not quite as dramatic as Beartooth, but one of the best Guzzi roads on the planet. :thumb:

Midway to PC would be a good ride. I believe that part of Roy's Friday route will take us over some of that, but I don't know that he has plans to drop into PC.
I think the traffic is high in PC, but I've lived here most of my life and recall when the traffic was much less. There are still some "charming" things about the historic area of Park City. Sunday of the rally weekend is an event called Park Silly Market. Fairly crowded and busy during that event.
Probably best to visit and check out Park City. Will be interesting to see what you think of it. It must be a hot spot with the tourists for a reason other than skiing.

OK, finally got around to clearing the schedule and booking a Campsite. Oak Hollow campground Thursday to Sunday spot #92. I see there are several sites around me already booked. Hopefully they are Guzzi Riders since this is the area Roy specified. Bad news is I still have not replaced my Stelvio, so I am bringing my small(but mighty) Yamaha XT. Just as long the group rides keep the speed down to 65-70 I should be okay. :bow: If not, there are lots of dirt roads for me to explore in the area. :grin:

Just finished a 1,300 mile trip on Wyoming/Utah backroads and timing to go to Midway where the rally is based wasn't good. But, Roy led a ride from there to an old roadhouse in my local area and I decided to head out in a light rain and meet them for lunch...took these pics while there. Was good to be able to put a couple of faces to the names of members whose replies I've been reading for the past 5 years or so.
Also, looked more like a Guzzi ADV Rally with all the Stelvio's and V85's. I'm pretty comfortable stating that in its long history this is the first time ever that there were more Moto Guzzi's at this bar than Harleys.

It's some fantastic riding! Roy took us on some canyon roads filled with "Avalanche Danger! Do not stop here!" signs. :shocked:

Whatever it was that night, it was an unearthly screaming sound that went on for too long and ended abruptly. Might have been the Canadian riders experiencing new forms of manly affection or someone viewing their Amazon billing online, I could not say with certainty 😁

Just wanted to let everybody know that I really appreciate you making your way to Midway for the Get Together. We are a great group of folks with a common interest in our lives and the opportunity to get together and share our lives, stories and experiences is priceless to me.

Many thanks to Roy for putting in the time and effort to facilitate the 2021 Guzzi ride from Midway. He did a great job! It was my initial experience with the Guzzi guys and gals who participate, and they were a fine bunch to ride with. I look forward to next September when there will be another chance to run the Guzzis with this group!
