Time to pull the starter and check for crankshaft end play. Some of us 2016 V-2 owners are just lucky that way..   It would not hurt to pull the starter, and check it off the rig anyway..

If it spins then the solenoid is working.  I would pull the starter motor and check just why the starter drive gear is not engaging on the ring gear.  It could range from costing you nothing except a cleanup to being quite expensive, and I am not sure you would know until you pull it and then check the operation. May be the pivot pin has sheared.

My .02 cents worth.

Thanks to Brand X & MUZZ for responding to my inquiry. Since the bike has 13,000 miles on it I believe that the needed thrust washer is in place.  I removed the starter and found no obvious problems. After reinstalling the starter I could hear the pinion gear trying to engage the flywheel followed by the starter spinning freely. This made me think that perhaps the solenoid was not strong enough to keep the gear engaged. A new starter has been ordered.  Thanks again.

I am still waiting on my crank issue on my 2016 Stonello. Guzzi is going to maybe deal with it, if the shop ever looks at it.. I bought a 4400 mile engine for plan B on this unit.. Glad yours was just a starter, but you never know on a 2016 model year..One bike you buy with the more miles on it the better..

Where did you order it from, and how much it costs? if you don't mind.

Ordered from DB Electrical in Knoxville TN for $83.52. Their database did not have a listing for a 2016 Stone II but did show multi applications for Moto Guzzi. Numbers were:0307307110, 14730706, 30730710, 30730711, & 410-40034. I figured that with that many applications I'd take  a chance and order it. Good result. A perfect fit!

Their Tel number is 800-753-2242. Also an extensive website at dbelectrical.com.

At that price I assume it is another "made in china" starter.

Original Valeo's were made by French and failed because of the glue for the magnets.  Bad manufacturing application.  Same problem for Beemer's at the time.

I built my HD Reconstruct with pre-AMF parts because I didn't want any of the American parts failures that were plagues for the HD.
