Title: New Norge to me
Post by: TFinch1990 on January 01, 2023, 04:03:02 PM
Finally was able to get the new to me 2012 Norge out for a real ride of all days New Year’s Day. I acquired the bike from Jim Hamlin in Connecticut. The wife and I made a 2300 mile 8 states in 4 days to pick the bike up. We were also fortunate enough to be invited to the Connecticut Moto Guzzi Christmas dinner we had an amazing time and amazing dinner. The Norge was one of Jim’s personal bikes so it received his A+ suspension work a lots of other goodies the bike is so much more than I could ever of ask for. Only down fall I could find with the ride today is it just wasn’t long enough. I truly can not wait for this spring and summer to start traveling on it we have many big adventures already planned.

What if I’m 32 inseam but only 150#?

I must be dense, I didn’t even know they came in black, really sharp looking.

Congrats Todd.  It's a beauty and a Hamlin special to boot.  BTW, I rode today too.  Only about 50 miles, but they were good miles.

Looks like a great match. I’ll bet the Norge will really like Kentucky. Good story and pictures. Thanks.

I made the seat for that bike.  Anything Jim does is always perfect-you got a great bike.

Enjoy your new bike. I have one of Jim’s Norge as well. You can see his personal signature on them. Great electrical layout and the engine breather screen on the tail.

Yep.  He did that breather mod to my V7 also-no more oil in the airbox!

BTW-Jim is a stickler for changing brake and clutch fluids for those as the bodywork can trap heat.  Neglect at your own risk.  Several visits to his shop over the years and I witnessed what happens when that is neglected-plenty more times than one.

I like the note across the seat latch about the map. 2012's had a terrible map, it was updated a few times and was still crap. It is a beautifull Black one. I think they only had black & white then. Belly fan comes on at 125*C. They run warm.

Looks like a decent buildup to help with that trapped feeling.

I should send you my 1200s seat, not happy with the Sargent buildup.

Beautiful paint job - Keep that Norge out wheels rollin!   I am no longer the new Norge guy here now -  but I am a 2v Norge guy.  Good luck with it.    Can't wait for my new to me Custom seat to arrive soon and get out on a decent day to ride here in Seattle to try it out. I have many mods on mine that made a great difference in feel. See my signature for suggestions on yours if needed.

Can't Steve,
Got rid of all the tools and materials when we moved from unlimited shop space in NY to the postage stamp of a house we now own in AZ.

Kingoffleece, I have your Norge. Bought it from Jim last year. Still looks and runs great.
Jim is still handling the maintenance and yes, the fluids get changed frequently.
