Waxed canvas bags for the Ambassador
« on: June 10, 2019, 03:08:30 PM »
I posted a few pics on advrider and thought I’d share here too. I looked all over the internet for old school looking canvas saddlebags and stumbled onto a fella in Belgium who does really cool work. I sent him some money and a few measurements and 3 weeks later they arrived. I still have my hard bags but I like the looks of these better.

Very nice, "vintage" look! I think once they get some miles on them, they will look even better, matching the look of the bike perfectly!  :thumb:

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll be putting a clutch in the old girl starting tomorrow, but had to put the new bags on. I’m pretty happy with the purchase.

I dont know how to add a link but if you google Etsy and type in TREESIZEVERSE I believe his store will pop up.

That's a great looking setup!

How do you prevent them from rubbing on the wheel?

I think they are stiff enough that I wont have a problem. If I notice them drooping I’ll make a small bracket from the lift handle to the lower shock bolt. Shouldnt be to hard to fab something.

Hope this is not a dumb question but are they waterproof in an all day rain?

I wish I knew about those before I tracked down and restored the wixoms on my ambo.

Those are great.  I think they'd look period correct on any vintage bike.

beautiful all around. And a guzzi that would actually be easy to work on. if that is the original paint it looks like it had an easy life.
I replaced the clutch on my bmw r69 when the rivets gave way. I just needed to pull the tank, disconnect the drive shaft and one engine mount and tilt it forward to get the clearance. It looks like that would be easy too. It's a good time to replace the drive shaft boot if there are any cracks.
