Title: 1100 Jackal Speedo light
Post by: nashopolis on January 24, 2023, 08:20:09 PM
Howdy all

I noticed my Speedo light was out on the Jackal and finally had a minute to dive into new territory for me.

I thought I’d just be figuring out what style  bulb I needed but to my surprise there’s more to the story as they say!

It looks like whatever held the socket to the bulb is no longer with us.  I found a spring and a little contact disk in the Speedo housing and pushed it all together and the light lit!

Harper’s is sending me something that should replace this part with an older version not made of plastic .  But I’m curious what used to be here.

I also am also wondering how I might get the bulb out of the metal tube it is living at the top end of right now.  Does it come out from below or do I need to remove the glass on the front?  I can’t get a hold of it to pull it down

Adding pics to hopefully make all this clearer.

Thanks for your help!

The bulb will come out of the bottom where you unplugged it.
You might try something "sticky" like a puddy or silicone it pull it out,  or needle nose tweezers. 🤷‍♂️  never saw one stuck

Maybe a magnet would help.

In the above photo, you can see that the metal part of the bulb holder is still inserted into the speedometer. Grab hold of the very end of the metal part sticking out, pull and twist.

Hey Charlie
Got it - thanks!

I wasn’t sure which parts are permanently attached and which aren’t.  Didn’t want to mistake one for the other!
