That was Huge, Daniel. Beautiful scenery. Such a shame it is soaked in blood.

FANTASTIC!  I have to ask, do you travel like this for work or pleasure?  Is that Stelvio yours, or do you rent it from Agostini's then take off on your trips?

If you can find a job that pays to do this sort of thing; take it.  I've not found one.

I rent from Agostini.  Even with two trips each year, there's no way to really justify buying.  The depreciation would exceed my costs not to mention the registration and insurance fees involved.

Even so, when I have looked to buy and keep a Stelvio in Italy, it all breaks down due to the fact that I'm not a resident and couldn't register or get insurance in my name.  Yes; I could likely have somebody at Agostini be my proxy, but then, what would be the advantage?  As it is, the bikes are new and they're under warranty (which means I've got roadside assistance in Europe).  The downside is that I'm forever finding all the little stuff that brand new Guzzis are (in)famous for...

Maybe they should put you on retainer to debug their rental fleet?

Daniel,
thank you, thank you, thank you, for a wonderful look and read!

Regarding the funny round white houses on one of the first photos after you returned to Italy after Albania, aren't they just trulli, i.e. houses for various agricultural purposes or possibly at some time dwellings?
Your story of the lost autostrada ticket reminded me of when I didn't realise I was supposed to pick it up when entering near Milano, and had no trouble being believed about that in the toll booth when getting off near Firenze about 350 km down the road!

What an amazing travel log.  The only thing better than your write ups and pics would be to actually make the trip yourself.
