Moto Guzzi system

I'm confused about the Givi system, do I need the Moto Guzzi Rear Carrier Kit plus the Givi MonoKey Rack in order to install the Givi MonoKEY Top Box?

It does not appear so. The flanges look similar to attach to the frame.

Bet someone here has the setup though, they'll know for sure. The Givi box looks really nice if it is color matched. Benefits too as the same key operates everything. On the other hand you still end up with two keys, one for ignition and seat and one for side bags and top box.

Luckily I was able to rekey they MG top box to match the side bags which means a single key for everything.

It would be nice if Givi left off their logos and you could put the MG logo there instead. Maybe that panel is replaceable with a non logo version?

Recommend you get the lighting kit as the tail light on the Norge is dismally weak.

Nope.  Just the GIVI to mount their case. I moved my E55 to the Norge from the Tiger 1050-all I needed was the GIVI rack for the Norge.

+1  I have the rack shown in your second pic, it came with two brackets and was a very simple mount.

If a single key is important - I bought the Guzzi top box at the same time I bought the bike (but it came later) and it doesn't have the same key.  I had a spare barrel but it wouldn't fit the top box.

Thanks, the Givi system is then cheaper and larger. Going to shop around for the Givi.  :boozing:

There are at least two Guzzi top boxes may e three for the norge.  The one i have was made by Givi for Guzzi and fits the guzzi mount that attaches to the guzzi rack in your post. I assume the guzzi and Givi mounts must be interchangeabl.

Seems the Givi mount is cheaper by about $100.

Givi make two types of top  boxes, Monokey & Monolock.  The difference is the Monokey can also be used as a pannier, the Monolock (which I prefer) cannot.

The mount you will require will be SR210 for the Monokey, and SR210M for the Monolock.

I wish I could get my MG top box to accept the spare tumbler that came with my Norge so I could use just one key for everything, but it does not seem possible. I wonder if the spare tumbler would work with a Givi top box.

Good to know ($104). May only fit generation one Norge?

I know suspenders-snappers like to save a penny or two, and so do I, but I would splurge for the Moto Guzzi color-matched top case. It looks great on the Norge, almost like it was made for it!

Color matched, uses the same key as the panniers and 48 liter capacity.  :thumb:

I too like to save a dollar here and there, but could not bring myself to pay for the MG factory box AND the bracket too. Would have been around 500.00 for the 2 if I remember correctly....so here's what I did:

Found 2 pieces of 1/4 inch thick metal, about 1 inch wide and 12 inches long at the local hardware store. Cut it to length and painted black...it already had the holes in it. Had to round off the corners to fit in the slot where the bolts are.

Took out the 4 existing bolts and got 4 that were 1/4" longer....bolted the metal strips to the bike.

Also note my add on fuse panel from another mod last year.

Bought the Givi E370 with paintable panel.......189.00 If I remember right and it comes with the box mount.

Mounted the base on my metal strips. It comes with mounting clips and bolts.

Clicked the givi box into it's mount.

Removed the top panel and painted with automotive spray paint "Dupli Color" white color 4 coats and 2 coats clear.

and from the rear..............M y ST has a different Givi, but they will interchange on the same base.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it looks better than the MG box...especially the angle that it mounts in relation to the bike.

Total with paint and bolts......about 210.00  Plenty of cash left over for riding.

One other thing I do is to take the Givi key and cut the rubber part and the top part of the key off with a dremel tool. I found some small
bakolite knobs at the hardware store. I used epoxy to secure the part of the key with the teeth into the knob. It allows me to leave the key in the lock, so I'm not always trying to find the key,but does not appear obvious to someone standing by the bike. The one in the ST has ridden 40,000 miles without falling out. You can also use garden hose end caps and do the same thing. It looks like a knob when finished.
Hope this gives you some more ideas.

I have the Monokey E460 on my Norge and have been very happy with it.  It will hold two full face helmets, which the Guzzi box will not due to it's geometry.

The Givi mount will fit all years of Norge as the mounting location has not changed.

The big drawback is needing a second key.  If only all my problems were that simple.

I need to clean out the garage, insulate, sheetrock and install the soon to be replaced wood pellet stove for heat before I can start any kind of work shop.

No, you really don't. I live on a farm with no garage, just a bit of gravel on the ground and a bit of an overhanging roof from an outbuilding. Just wait for a semi-dry day and have at it. Even when I had a garage, the lack of heat never stopped me from working on bikes in the middle of winter. Must be the Norse blood... (or the strong drink).
