FOUND a perfect '04 EV...! ! !
« on: March 02, 2017, 05:40:29 PM »
So I sold the Stelvio, I had to come to grips with the fact that I cannot live without an EV.

I have scrubbed the national Craigslist ads, MGNOC and others however, if you happen to have one for sale that is not advertised or know of one that a friend may have for sale, kindly let me know.

Thanks,
Rob

Yeah, they are close but not what I am looking for, a 1990 and a 2002 that has been kinda worked on..

Thanks though.

Good deal on the trade.

And I am not in a great rush, I plan to look at all that I can to find the one I want.

Thanks,
Rob

May I ask why a '99 model, specifically?

I have owned '98, '99, AND '04 EVs and a 2000 Bassa...  I just mention the '99 as I know them well as well as the '04.

By skipping the 2002 and 2003 EVs I can avoid that single plate clutch ta-do also.

Best,

I think the exploding clutch was the Scurra and Roso Mandello  ? the EV etc had a different single plate clutch that fails but not explodes.. someone can correct me if wrong..

I was asking as there is what sounds and looks like a very nice '98 listed on Ebay, up in your neck of the woods, CT, and at a very fair price.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-Moto-Guzzi-EV1100-/282372999177?hash=item41bebe0809:g:mxEAAOSwTuJYsHU7&vxp=mtr

I also have a friend in the DC area with a nice '99 that I found for him about a year ago, when his Coppa was down for a good while. I don't know if he'd be willing to discuss selling, but he's more of a V11 man, and I can certainly ask.

I think that must be the fellow from Hinton that has been a mystery person mentioned on & off the forum.  Some folks have actually met him and seen his bikes.

Hey Rob,
There's a CalVin in MN listed on Cycle Trader. It's kinda high miles, around 50K if I recall, also has H&H fairing. Priced around $4600.

P.S.
Scroll down the page to the "Anyone know this US Guzzi" thread. This is my first Guzzi. My '83 SP after a tip over in the parking lot of the complex where we were living in Virginia Beach destroyed the original fairing and tank. I resurrected it in the form you see. It somehow wound up in OZ.

Would you be interested in a blue/silver 2000 Bassa in gem condition?  Many upgrades for performance, appearance, and utility, including color-matched Swanee fairing, Hepco-Becker luggage, Saeng Night-Cutter driving lights, Stucchi Luigi headers and crossover, Mistral exhaust, PC-III with Dynojet Tuning Link custom dyno-mapping,  OEM Guzzi forward controls (a rarity)  Ned's Comfort Seats front and rear.
I've been told by other Guzziphiles that have ridden this bike that it's the best sorted Bassa they've ever ridden.  Many other extras and upgrades.  Less than 12,000 miles  on the clock.

 $6500 and worth every penny.

A couple teaser photos:

 :1:

With a no reserve auction, his starting price is what he would accept, and he'll lose close to 10% of that to Ebay by selling it thru them. Ending the auction and making a private sale puts another $250+ in the seller's pocket, and is not against their contract rules.

My 02 EV has 53,000 miles on it. No clutch issues. I believe it is the dual plate clutch. I thought the single plate was introduced in 03 with the hydro engine.

the fee for a motorcycle listing is a flat $125. if a low volume seller.. there is no 10% charge.

I sent a question to the owner of the 98 EV on eBay about why he has the scalloped front disc rotors and if he was a member here. 3 days have gone by without a reply........
The auction states it has a clear title so it should not have been totaled in an accident. The no reply makes me more concerned than the different rotors.

Isn't there a final value fee added as well? I sold an R65 about 6 months ago, and was thinking that all of the various fees added up to appx. 10%; maybe not. I do know that Paypal charges 3% though, if you use them like most folks do, for the vehicle deposit, at least.

Anyway, a seller would come out with a fairly substantially larger profit by selling the bike in a private transaction, and without violating any Ebay policies since no bids have been placed.

Successful listing fee

If your vehicle sells, you may be charged a successful listing fee if:

You receive a bid on an auction-style listing without a reserve price

You receive a bid that meets your reserve price on an auction-style listing with a reserve price

A buyer clicks Buy It Now in a listing offering a fixed price

    You accept a Best Offer

The amount of the successful listing fee depends on if you're a low- or high-volume seller, and the vehicle price.

The vehicle price is the final bid amount, Buy It Now price, or accepted Best Offer.

There's no additional fee charged on the actual sale of the vehicle after it sells. However, you'll be charged a successful listing fee regardless of whether you carry out the sale with the buyer.

I noticed the wave rotors as well, and had the same thought that you did. I would hope that as clean and well maintained as the rest of the bike seems to be, that they were added to replace worn or warped original parts, and not damaged in a crash. Does anyone know if the early EVs were prone to any brake disc warping?

FWIW, not all the 03 "Hydros" have the single plate clutch, my 03 aluminum came with the 2 plate clutch. The bike is titled as an 03, but the date of manufacture is in 02....dont know if that makes a difference.
