It happened to me a couple of years ago on a day rental in Eimeldingen Germany after only two hours of riding.The dealer not only return my rental fee but also gave me, at no charge, a new pair riding pants and boots, both high quality gor tex items. I had a major "Ahhh shit" moment  when the rear wheel 1st broke loose but the support I got from the dealer, Renner Motorradhaus, was beyond my expectation. Oh, and they had my oiled/soiled pants cleaned and shipped to me in the US.

My EV came with this;

It's real handy for quickly checking the oil, but it's a bit of a hassle to pin the pin back in. You have to align the holes just right. Forget about doing it at night with no light.

Also, the oil fill hole is now half as big and is a hassle to add oil. I need a funnel with a long narrow hose to add oil.

My '04 Breva 750 did the same thing, once.  My fault entirely.

Did not lose the dipstick but my left boot got thoroughly soaked with oil, as did the rear brake pads.

That was a bummer as I had replaced the all brake pads only a few weeks before.

I was not willing to throw them away (expensive little buggers) so I pulled them and gave them a good spray down and wipe off with brake cleaner.  After re-installing they worked good as before (but your results may vary).  That was 10,000 miles ago.

I now take 10 extra seconds at fuel stops to check dipstick tightness .

I forgot to replace the dipstick once when doing my morning ride check.  It responded predictably.  The amusing part was that it happened at Old Faithful.   :laugh:

It would seem that having a left boot that is oil soaked is an Identification badge for owners of this model.
