Good stuff!

Here's a post office:

Next tag a state park:  It was one of my 2 favorite parks growing up.  It's our oldest state park and free on Veteran's Day.

You guys are too nice!  Most are "concours de tat" eligible so I ride them in the rain.  And the bacon slicer needs to come apart again

But the Monza has definitely become a sunshine bike.  And it runs so darn strong!

^^^^^ The Kid has my Monza now. He's "cleaning it up some" this Wisconsin winter. They are almost too much fun if you have a proper place to ride them. Central Indiana isn't it.

Attaboy, Charlie.  :thumb:  We still have ice and snow, but it's predicted to be in the 50s Wednesday. I *need* to take the G5 with shade tree engineered windshield out to see if it works, and will get a tag with any luck at all..

A nice crispy morning here...time to ride!

Tagging the fire Dept and adding a new tag...find a dam, this one is Lake Livingston Dam...

Bonus points if the dam name is similar to a famous explorer!

Rats!! I was going to get the local VFD.  Only because it's about 100 yards from my house.  :)

Good photos and tag.  :thumb:  I know where there's a local dam but won't have time to get it today.

To grab the state park I only had to go a mile, the VFD is about the same distance away as yours.

Had to gear up to take a customer's Eldo out for a test ride, so decided while I was all geared up I'd go for a little ride on the Convert.

Grab: No famous names attached to either of these:

Small dam: along Dam #5 Road, near Clear Spring, MD.

Bigger dam: Dam #5 on the Potomac River, closer to Clear Spring, MD. That's West Virginia on the other side, the building is a Potomac Edison hydroelectric generating plant.

New tag: water tower. This one is in Williamsport, MD.

Does it have to be an elevated one like that? They are few and far between around here!

Nope, any municipal clean water storage vessel will do.

Not a tag but since we don't have elevated tanks here's some road signs you won't see in the US!

And here's one of a nice little parish church.

Generally water is treated and pumped to a 1,2,3 million gal. storage tank at or below ground level then that water is pumped to the water tower to boost the pressure and then gravity takes over to the users in town. Most are located at the highest elevation of the area. Towns without a water tower run booster stations to supply pressure to the users.

Took the G5 out today to see how the FREE (Guzzi content) windshield would work after I made some mounts for it. Pretty good.  Made this fairly nasty day tolerable. More importantly, it let me lean forward more, and took the load off my lower back.  :thumb:
I'll grab that water tower..

Generally in big tanks on the highest bit of ground around! Out in the Hay plains and the like there are a few towns with towers but the tall, bulbous, ones you have in the US are anathema to Aussies. To answer the question accurately I'll have to do a some research as with most public infrastructure, unless it is visibly obvious, (Or broken!) we don't tend to think about it much!

It is a bit uncomfortable when you're stuck in traffic. It's not even summer yet! It'll be 110*F in January!

Oh, in the waterspout pic that is the 'Captain Cook' waterspout at Commonwealth Park in Canberra. The Lake, named after the man who designed Canberra, Walter Burley-Griffin, is man made and the fountain was a gift from Betty the Boxhead on the fiftieth anniversary of federation.

The buildings in the background are, from left to right, hiding in the spray the High Court of Australia, the white one is Questacon a science discovery hub principally for kids and the boring looking block on the right is the National Library. All if these, along with old and new Parliament houses and a variety of government departmental buildings are all in what is known as the 'Parliamentary Triangle' in the centre of Canberra which is the National Capital and seat of Federal Government. Not Sydney which is what most people from outside of Oz think! :D The main thing that singles Canberra out, apart from the large number of scroll beetles employed by the federal bureaucracy, is that it is stinking hot in summer and perishingly cold in winter! The site was originally chosen because it was far enough from the sea that warships of any hostile nation couldn't shell it!

There is no charge for these useless facts! :boozing:
