It's great fun to ride out, explore, and hunt up some tags.  Hope your bike is back soon.

And where the hell has Chad been?

Got yer clock tower right here...

This is actually its new home. That clock has been wandering around Dayton for 100 years. It was originally erected on a grand old bank building right in the center of downtown, where it stood from 1920 to 1978. When that bank was demolished in favor of a somewhat grim modern version, it was moved atop an equally grim windowless factory/warehouse type building right next to an elevated section of I-75 as it passed through downtown. Being nearly eye level with the traffic, it was hard to miss.
In 2006 I-75 was widened/reconfigured for the 84th time and the building came down. The fate of the clock was a source of speculation for awhile, but it eventually turned up at a local historical park, awkwardly displayed at ground level.
So while arguably less than ideal, it's an improvement.

Next tag is some modern art sculpture. Extra points for chrome.

I took this today while was out and about. Look closely. Definitely older than me, not sure what it was or if it runs/is "operable". Looked driveable. If it doesn't count, that's okay.

It was here, so likely a Rambler/Nash/Hudson?

Well, since I didn't know the tag would change while on my ride, and that I would somehow end up taking a photo acceptable as the grab, I'll have to see if there's something else from today that will work and hasn't been done to death. If not, I'll have to sneak out soon and shoot one.

Multiple choice?

Old car dealership building for a now defunct brand.

Old industrial building now a museum.

"Strasburg Stone and Earthenware Manufacturing Company, also known as Steam Pottery and Southern Railroad Station, is a historic factory building located at Strasburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia." Now the Strasburg Museum.

Low-water bridge over a river.

This is right next door:

Pottery factory and foundry should both be good tags.

Hard tag coming right up. :)

Incidentally, the Foundry is now an interactive museum. I’ll post more info about it when I get home.

New tag. A moving train. No cheating. :)

Got that in Fredricktown Pennsylvania where you can get a bag o’ meat at the local butcher.

It doesn't count of course, but I could have grabbed the new tag (the same train twice) this past Sunday.

Yeah, if that one doesn't get bagged I have an easier one ready to go.  But it should be do-able.

Anyone know how to check train schedules?  Freight train schedules?  (never mind.  I checked and freight trains haven't run on specific schedules for a long time.)

btw, remember that tags can be reused.  Both general tags like "covered bridge" and even the specific ones pictured in any post.

I'd *love* to see that machine shop.

Yes you would.  The machines are run by an old 4 cylinder gas engine and a mess of exposed leather belts.

Discovered and preserved by some locals, it's wonderful and amazing.  I believe they have most of the machines and the forge up and running.

That's an obsolete machine, a planer. I've ran one..  Planers and their smaller cousins shapers were made obsolete by millling machine technology.

Nice old machine. The one I ran was about that size times 5. Still the same principle, though.
I won't find that moving train until soybean harvest, most likely. We'll leave that one to Charlie..
