A car that seats about twenty AND the Love Shack in the same shot…
What are the chances ?

Thanks everyone. I can’t wait to get it plated. Now for a shop manual and some bigger wrenches.

Nothing like the big full size convertibles!!  Pretty sweel looking. My Mom always had Mopars. When I was born she had a 64 Chrysler 300 convertible. And in 69 she bought my first automotive love,, a 69 Sport fury convertible also with a 383.

I was SOOO upset when she traded that in in the mid 70's. I really wanted that car!  Right now I have a 72 Ford LTD convertible that Im rebuilding. Enjoy the ride!!!!

My high school girl friend got a new 1963 Fury convertible for her 16th birthday. I looked like a putz being driven around in the passenger seat.

It is Dan. The only non-stock items are a front disc conversion and custom radiator.

383 is a very good Mopar engine, plus, a factory 4 speed has to be somewhat rare.
Black, with red interior is classic.
Nice find.

I was driving to court the other day and saw an old car for sale in a front yard.  I showed my wife and friends and everyone said not to buy it.  So I did.  It’s a 65 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 383 big block and four speed.  Now I have to sell a half dozen bikes and clear out the garage. The dog voted for it.

GREAT find!

I'm a both/and and looking for a classic convertible when I retire next year. Also have a modern Mustang Bullitt and 1976 Porsche 912 along with 6-7 bikes. Eventually I will be forced to downsize, but will keep my favorites. Kills me I didn't buy my 'bucket list birthyear car' 10 years ago, prices have gone nuts..... Mopars are great, hope the undercarriage and chassis look as good as the exterior in these pics.

Enjoy it, and glad you went with your gut/heart.

My first new MOPAR, when I was 16, was a 1969 dodge Super Bee.
The 383 was always the MOPARs dependable work horse motor which I personally prefer over the bigger brothers, the 440 and 426 hemi or the 426 wedge motor which was the common big block in 64.
What a great car!!!

I think I see a “reverb” under the center of the dash. A must have add on in the 60’s, to make your AM sound big.
I bet there are a pair of glas pacs attached to those chrome exhaust tips.

I knew a guy who bought a new Belvedere with a 426 wedge. He said he made more money street racing it than he did on his day job. He was a mechanic at the local Mobile station. He also raced it on the drag strip. He took the B Stock Auto all New England title that year. The next year he wanted to run B Modified, I don't know what he did to it but it wasn't as fast as it was stock. He ran in the mid 12's stock. For that championship a national record holder showed up with a 383 Dodge with his record time painted on the side of the car, high 11's. Fortunately it broke so he won the title. For the class the 426 had one carb but the 383 was allowed dual 4 bbl's. Fun times but I was driving a Slant Six so I watched.

Thanks Clint. I’ll be riding up through Chelsea next week. Ben

I was thinking exactly that.  Believe it or not, there used to be a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Dealership in Chelsea- real showroom and everything & “one of the largest” in the state. Owned and operated by Walter “Peanut” Kennedy, who was Speaker of the House in Montpelier. It’s just off 110 on Upper Valley Road on the right.   Not sure what it is now or if buildings are even there after the huge floods.  Didn’t see it on the map just now, only the State Attorney office just past where it was.

There were a few cars left in the area that supposedly came from Kennedy’s, including one coupe much like your new car.  Every time I see a mid 60’s Mopar like yours, I think about home.  Have a great drive.

I could even pass gas pumps in my 66. It had something like a 24 gallon tank and back in the 55mph days would get around 18 mpg.

A lot of those old full size cars were not that bad on the highways. A lot of them had some long legged gears in them. My 72 ford LTD would get a solid high teens on the highways if I wasnt beating it much. Granted its not a big block, [351] but would just "lub lub lub" down the road nice and easy.

What do you mean silly? Or would you rather a shyster stock broker get all your money? I have tools and many gadgets that are seldom used, but IMHO it beats looking at a portfolio of stocks and bonds.

I'm happy for you ENJOY.

I picked it up yesterday after cleaning out the garage to make room.  It’s a blast to ride and everything works, even the clock. Today I took it out on the highway and up to 75.  It just barrels along. I also read through the file.  The original owner bought it new in late 64 and sold it in 2015.

Very nice.  Reminds me of my ‘64 Impala vert I had for a few years.  Had to move some bikes around to garage it.  I literally had maybe 2” to spare once the door was closed.
