Can you identify this MG??
« on: August 05, 2021, 08:11:11 PM »
I drove to Salem WV. today to pick up a set of Vetter equipment, whom a member, Tiny Tim, offered to give to give to someone. I was the lucky first responder so “I seen it  first” as Pete said on OH Brother Where Art thou”, over the Sirens in the river scene 😂
It was a great 600 mile trip with the Wife as the WV mountains are simply gorgeous!!
However I must admit that the proverbial “cherry on top of the cake”  was this 50s Moto Guzzi Police bike. I can’t remember the name of this 500cc beauty but I knew some of the guys here could.
Tim kick started her up on the first try and she ran flawlessly. What a rare privilege to actually sit on a piece of Moto Guzzi history.
Tim is very knowledgeable about these older MG machines and his knowledge will be helpful here on the MG Forum.
Thanks Tim for the generous offer on the equipment as well as the opportunity to see one of MGs historical bikes. 👍👍

Memory says the first Nuovo Falcone came out in 1969 , no idea when the first came here , only ever seen a couple of them. Nick 949 has one .

 The Sultan
Best I remember Tim said he bought it from the guy who had it shipped here from Italy.

We had one at the shop for about 1-2 years, somewhat assisting the owner fix it in slow motion until he had to sell it. Definitely not 50's, most likely 70's.

We've got a Ural hack there now, with clear title claiming it's a 1968 via a previous owner (dr in NJ) who sold it to the last owner before we got it..  Nope.  It's much later, maybe even an 1986 based upon general condition and all the modern wiring, switchgear and ancillaries. Somebody didn't know or care but the new owner is quite happy to say he has a 68 Ural with papers to prove it.

I really don’t have a clue about it being a “civilian model” but it does have the radio rack on the rear and I assume that’s a police saddle?
And when I was sitting on it something inside me said it was a a “police bike” 🤔

This is what I was thinking of...I believe there was this one (Civilian) and a Military / Police model...

Lot's of oddities regarding the paperwork on Urals and Chang Jiangs , many came here sans any paperwork and got registered as BMW's , then magically later became something else .

 Dusty

Yup, I know that and you know that.  But some people just want to believe what they want to believe.  It's easier to have a really nice 50 yr old bike if it's only 20-30 yrs old.

The bike you have there is a Nuovo falcone, police/army model. The civile was quite different. I had one of the civile ones, lovely bike, underpowered but sturdy and nice.
