Cali EV needs garage in TX
« on: August 22, 2021, 06:50:02 AM »
As some of you know, I bought a 1998 California EV in 2011 to make an epic 2-month coast-to-coast road trip across the USA. After 2 months on the road it was impossible to sell the bike (that would be like selling a good friend) so I found someone who put the bike in his garage and took it out for a ride every month or so. I have returned to the USA twice on shorter trips and lent it to a good friend from TX for a long road trip. Now it is sitting outside someone's garage in Austin TX and it needs a new place.

I am not yet willing to give it up or having it shipped to Europe, so I am looking for someone who would be willing to put the bike in his garage for another year or so, and preferably take it out on the road every once in a while. You do not have to live in Austin TX but there is the transport to be handled. Before it can return to roam the US roads, some oil leakage in the rear has to be investigated - it might be a simple seal or something more complex, it is hard for me to tell from a distance and there seems to be no Guzzi specialist in or near Austin.

So if you feel like taking care of my beautiful Cali EV for a while - putting it in a garage and riding it every now and then - please let me know. You can send me a PM to get more details and we can have a phone call or zoom meeting if you want to know more. Also, if you happen to know someone who could check on the oil leakage that would be great, too. The mechanic that my friend contacted was going to charge a ridiculous amount for it and I would rather have someone with good Guzzi knowledge check it out.

Thanks in advance and greetings from Amsterdam, Netherlands

I might can help out at least for a little while if  you don't get any response.

Hi Jang , are you coming to Cedar Vale next May ?

 Dusty

Hello Dusty, although it was fun to join that campout it is very unlikely that I will be there next yeaar, as I still have a commitment to manage a second-hand bookstore with bar and guest rooms in the Belgian mountains every weekend until next summer. Not sure what my plans will be after that.

You will have plenty of fun without me, I am sure.

Thanks for the offer. I will get back to you if needed. About the Georgie campout - I cannot recall having been there. After visiting John Kramer in NC I crossed the mountains into Tennessee and made my way to Texas through Arkansas
