General Discussion / Re: Price Check: 2008 Nevada 17,600 miles

To me that seems quite high for a Nevada considering V7s are going for that price, such as this 2013 V7 in Indian Trail, NC which is advertised for $3510 with 11,000 miles, and these are asking prices.

Or this 2015 with 6900 miles for $3990

I'm also in long-distance love with this 2001 California Special in upstate NY, which I think is the prettiest Cali (after the CalVins).

Some bags on this would look as close to a modern Ambo/Eldo as anything I can think of. Much better than the 1400 Eldo, IMO.

It's got the same mileage as the Nevada but is rougher cosmetically. It's also $800 less, at the $3000 asking price. If I could get it for $2800, then the question becomes whether the Nevada is worth a grand more?!

In the Nevada's favor is, first, that it's 20 minutes down the road, so I'd save any travel/lodging costs associated with a trip to New York and back. Second, the Nevada is probably the better bike for (small, old, and weak ) me, since the Cali is at least a 1/3rd again bigger/more cumbersome and likely more power than I truly need for typical Western NC roads.

It looks just like mine. Bought mine a couple of years, at about that price, less mile. Paul

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like we need the TR-4 stem for our wheels instead of the TR-11 stem.

Hi, all.

Went to look at the Nevada near me, and it looks very good.

Only concern is that, on both sides, two or three fins above the head gasket seam have a TINY bit of tacky film on them. If there is indeed a minute weep at the head gasket, it seems to be depositing above the seam...can the wind create that phenomenon? (It's definitely not coming down from from the valve cover gasket.)

Other than that, it's in outstanding shape cosmetically. Paint and clear coat are excellent. Plastics and rubber are dark, flexible, and not faded. Everything works as it should. Fork seals seem good. Test ride didn't get above third gear but the engine seems great.

Owner is a very nice guy. He's come down from the posted price of $4250. Says he has $3800 invested, and that's as low as he can go. What do you think? Fair price?

The is my 20th year on a "baby" Breva, which I prefer to call The Original Breva. Great all day long comfort, peppy engine, can be a bit bouncy when pushed hard but thats not a worry for me. I'm looking at a replacement in the form of a V7 ONE DAY, but to quote the great Aragorn Son Of Arathorn "It is not THIS day!" I've toured all over half of Europe and the UK on mine. Plan to replace the shocks in November with Hagons. thats about it.....

General Discussion / Norge ABS switch question, what happens if I jump the leads?
« Last post by brider on April 26, 2024, 12:07:07 PM »
It's is a momentary switch (spring-loaded pushbutton), what happens if I just jump the wires to each other? Or leave one wire disconnected? In trying to re-install my dash and connect this switch, I disconnected the soldered connection on 1 wire.  :violent1: I have no opinion right now on whether I want/don't want ABS, and I have ZERO patience to try to re-solder the connection, so what happens if I don't? Is there a dis-connect to this button somewhere farther along the 2-lead wire that I don't see, or is it truly terminated @ the button itself?

Asked in a different way: Is it an "open" circuit @ the button at at startup (wires not touching), with the ABS disabled with a touch of the button? If yes, then my current condition of 1 wire dangling free should have no affect on what the ECU sees, I just won't have access to whatever the pushbutton does when pushed. Yes? No?

I use the GIVI tank ring and have a few different bags depending on how large it needs to be for that outing.

Can you turn the handlebars side to side 100% using the Givi ring and bags? I thought I saw where they included parts to inhibit the steering?

Here’s a few of my old dirty bike.  Hope they help. Looks like the loom is on outside of fender brace on fender-brace-loom-washer assembly order-
